FR: Clip Gain - Normalise each individual clip in track to specific -dB, Peak or RMS
A potentially quick and simple method for achieving a consistent level in a track (I'm mainly thinking of vocals) without interfering too much with the performance and dynamics is to divide the track into clips containing individual phrases and normalise clip gain in each clip to a set level.
In Waveform 10 clip normalising can be done by selecting clip, clicking add fx and selecting "normalise". However, this can only be performed on one clip at a time, and only to a set max level (peak). I would like to be able to do it on all clips in the track at the same time, but to a certain level and not necessarily peak.
A "Normalise to ..." dropdown menu (like the stretch, speed, pitch dropdowns) could be placed in the clip properties or somehow integrated in the Gain property. That should also make it possible to make this macro: Select all clips in track > Normalise each individual clip to [...].

Yeah that would be a huge time-saver. Would love to see it. I often have to normalize a ton of clips or tracks at once.
Another issue is that if you split a bunch of clips, you have to flatten them individually to get them to normalize independent of each other.

Yes, unfortunately you can't normalise multiple clips simultaneously, but you can normalise to a chosen level. Just select the clip then click "View source info" in the control panel / actions menu then click "Edit audio file" then "Basic editing operations". There are various editing operations available in the drop down menu including normalise and the option to set the level.

Thanks, but:AGreen wrote: Sun Jul 05, 2020 6:17 pm Yes, unfortunately you can't normalise multiple clips simultaneously, but you can normalise to a chosen level. This option is destructive / irreversible, because it alters the file itself. And doesn't provide any benefit over using clipfx - normalize in terms of workflow.

A hotkey for flattening clips. If you want to, say, normalize multiple parts of a clip independently you need to split and flatten them individually.
Linux version?
