But I was reliably told everyone uses muh windows.Urs wrote: Thu Jul 09, 2020 6:04 pmSure, with 45% of the income left, we could also reduce staff who eat up my time for oversight. I'd have a lot more time developing new things - and with less testing, I'd be popping out new stuff so much quicker. Without support staff I'd never learn about bugs, so I'd never have to fix any again. Heaven!fladd wrote: Thu Jul 09, 2020 5:52 pm Sounds like a great moment to stop supporting MacOS. Imagine what you could do with all the additional development time that results from not constantly fixing what Apple broke in their OS updates![]()

Me too.
Thanks for those numbers Urs, kind of put things in perspective and should hopefully cause pause to the Windows only yappers.

Of course, maybe +/- 5% maybe even +/10 % but unless it is a software that for years started only on one platform and only recently added the second platform I would be surprised if it was significantly more than that.
Like I don't imagine there it would be a 75:25 (or greater) PC:Mac split, unless it is unusual circumstances, say like a Wavelab etc.

That Logic is from every poll I have seen in the top 2 or 3 best selling DAW and is Mac only would strongly suggest that the Mac music user base is significant.
I use both. Although I am a windows user but a mac diehard

The new standard is the new universal binary format, which contains both. We did PowerPC for another 5-7 or so years after the fact, and I expect this time to be not much different or even better considering hat we do Intel anyway for Windows compatibility.hivkorn wrote: Thu Jul 09, 2020 6:23 pm will you still release intel osx plugin when the new apple "standard" will be done ?

Logic userbase is a few times smaller than FL Studio userbase. Really! It's the most sold DAW in the world and probably has the largest userbase compared to any other DAW, AND largest number of daily downloads and influx of new users.zvenx wrote: Thu Jul 09, 2020 7:48 pm That Logic is from every poll I have seen in the top 2 or 3 best selling DAW and is Mac only would strongly suggest that the Mac music user base is significant.

I don't have the energy to explain business models here. I'll let peeps know well in advance when I need valuable advice from strangers who have never seen any of our numbers, let alone those who have no idea what this thread is actually about.

You can't correlate DAW to plug-in sales per platform though. We do have quite a few FL Studio users on Mac nevertheless.EvilDragon wrote: Thu Jul 09, 2020 7:55 pmLogic userbase is a few times smaller than FL Studio userbase. Really! And I was just going to explain how you could increase revenue by advertising on the tops of Taxis here in NYC... Plus It'd be a nice change to see u-he instead of strip club ads.

Even 2 years back they had like 70k downloads daily. That is a LOT.

A bunch of those downloads become recurring users.
