Not being able to see a waveform clearly makes editing more difficult. Normalising volume is another issue but should be available with a user set point. I have never understood the "induce blindness when working with audio" position.

Yes, "data zoom" is a must working with audio:

I want a logarithmic waveform. Then I could see soft parts without zooming. My most demanded feature!!! The only DAW I know of that can do that is Ardour and probably Mixbus...

+1

Normalization + data (waveform zoom) is a "must have" in any daw, and I am surprised that they didn't implement this yet (?!).

The more people demand it by writing to support, the earlier we get it...

Poor guy wanted a simple "Right-Clic>Normalize Clip" and he ended up beeing schooled with sound theory and workarounds for 5 pages...

Just tell him Bitwig won't make it happen until they feel he's suffered enough...

Give him the truth... Tell him it's been 3 years and there's still no significant improvement Midi/Audio/Workflow wise.

Kiddo, run away from this sect before it's too late. Don't bother about us, we're already doomed. Save yourself I say!

(OP) But they told me if I write support, and if enough people ask for it they would...

That's a bunch of shenanigans! I like you kiddo. I see alot of myself in you when I was a young v2.0 betatester... I had dreams, I believed in the Bitwigods, just like you do now... And then I realized that...

(Antic608) Mhhfff... Lure him with a sexy promo code. He can't hide forever anyways. He's probably on the Ableton forums by now.

This is only true if you make an animated video with antics avatar. Then Bitwig will buy it and promote the next update which finally introduces a logarithmic waveform view as main feature no other DAW has. (Open source software is ignored intentionally...)

No don't... naaah... really? No you're toying with me.

I mean I kinda like this Antic608 Redneck Cult Leader character. He's on the cover of the movie, while I'm just the poor follower dude who got killed just before the movie even really started (needless to say the lead role goes to OP, movie's about HIS journey).

He ain't classy but he got skills with rifles, he's a natural leader, maybe has more charm than expected and you might even get attached to his swag at the end, definitely married with lots of kids. Lives in the west so probably owns one or several pieces of good land (that will increase in value with time / probably has oil pits or gold mines)... So the guy is potentially loaded.

He has willpower, maybe his crooked yellow teeth might throw off some but hey, who cared back in the days? (he's a redneck so you need a whole new set of fake ugly ass teeth for this role).

PS: for those who kept reading, this thread was kinda dying so I decided to just have a lil fun with it before it went down to the abyss. Don't take it too seriously.

That's actually not a bad idea but... The writing skills needed to make this jump from a Western to Logarithmic Waveform Visualizer... I guess I need to study about it a lil more lol

Post

Its way easier to implement, as you don’t need to think about zoom UI elements. A preference would do...
