Thanks for the detailed explanation!
Regarding PHm presets: I searched the net to check what some of the chips on the board are for.
None of them are ROMs, maybe the presets are part of the firmware EPROM? As it is socketed I should be able to dump its contents. Maybe I can find the presets somewhere in there
Only thing that makes me doubt it is that 200 presets are roughly 20kb of data and the whole chip has 64k only.

Maybe they compressed presets, kinda like in Matrix 1000?

Back in the days, every programmer was a hacker. Watch some of the amazing videos of the demo scene. All graphics and music is running as a program of max size 8k music by Jochen Feldkötter aka Virgill the programmer of the 64klang synthesizer...

This video is not from "back in the days" though. At least that's is not what I call 2014Tj Shredder wrote: Mon Jul 20, 2020 7:13 am Back in the days, every programmer was a hacker. I grew up (computer wise) with Triton Productions (Crystal Dream 2, 1993) and Future Crew (Second Reality, 1993). As always, Sweden against Finland, so we never knew what happened in other parts of the world
Parts of Triton Production later became (or started) Starbreeze Studios and members from Future Crew started, or at least joined, Futuremark, Remedy and a few more less knwon companies.
Enougb OT for today though, but it's nice sometimes to watch these again, so thank you for leading me on that path

Sorry for more OT content, but since you mentioned these... I wasn’t really part of Future Crew, but I worked at Futuremark for many years, and have done several projects (and still do) with Remedy.starflakeprj wrote: Mon Jul 20, 2020 7:47 am Parts of Triton Production later became (or started) Starbreeze Studios and members from Future Crew started, or at least joined, Futuremark, Remedy and a few more less knwon companies.
And to smoothly bring this to Kawai K1... back in the day, I used K1 a lot with my first ”band” Dance Nation. Just listened to some of our old stuff, and while it’s pretty horrible production-wise (hey, it was -94, I was young and stupid, and I did everything at home with an Amiga and a couple of synths), I think here’s a good example of K1 in action. All the pads and chord stabs (from 0:53 onwards) are pure K1. Can’t wait to revisit those when the Mac version of the plugin is out!

Captain, as in Markus Kaarlonen? You are a true legend! And I love Poets of the Fall, have seen you twice. Once in Helsinki and once in Stockholm (last time you were here).Captain wrote: Mon Jul 20, 2020 9:43 amSorry for more OT content, but since you mentioned these... PHm presets update:
I noticed that the K1 firmware is only 32k but PHm is 64k so chances were higher. I dumped the Firmware EPROM and the presets are part of it!

I searched for the preset "Hold a key", which is part of one of the ROM cards and also exists on the PHm.
They omitted the Sysex start, patch name & sysex end but other than that, there are "sysex" dumps of all PHm presets. I should be able to write a small program that converts them into K1 banks

I looked at the patch list of the PhM and was wondering if there is really anything new in there?!

I've now got my PH50 going to BlueCat Axiom amp/effects suite followed by z3ta+ 1.5 effects plugin, with it's battery of old-school Cakewalk synth presets, and getting a great range of sounds. Using Axioms gain/drive etc can really set the stage, and finishing it all off with NI's Raum

Forgot the PH50 keybed is feather-touch compared to my Alesis hammer-weight
The PH50 keys octave measures 7-3/16" versus 7-5/16" so width is nearly full size,
and I think I'll set it up fulltime with an ART effects rack, and a spare Spider amp.
Preset 087 Fine Glass is a jewel!

Kawai Phm Presets for K1v are now available, feel free to download them here:czsynth wrote: Sat Jul 18, 2020 4:23 pm Hi Nils,
contains K1V all presets from PHm module (PH50)?
Thanks for this great VSTi!

Please note that PHm presets are not identical to PH50 presets. If anyone has an EPROM dump of a PH50, I would be very happy if someone could send it to me so I extract these presets, too

Hats off to Nils for doing such a great job.
I've always dreamed of PHm module. I own from Kawai k1m, k1r, GMega and my master keyboard is Kawai MS 710 which contains 24 sounds that I love.
Best Regards from Prague!
