The vocal melody of this song did seem to have an effect on me, after the song finished, i enjoyed ten minutes of peace and quiet with a memory of the melody floating around in my mind!wagtunes wrote: Mon Jul 20, 2020 11:00 amBecause it was more conventional. This one was more odd, for lack of a better word.

10th track from my upcoming CD "Disco Everywhere"
Well, we're getting down to the home stretch. Only 2 more tracks to go. Really like this one. Getting back to the fun.
Life Of The Party
You're the coolest gal I know
And I love to have you round
So I bring you everywhere
Social scenes are your playground
And everybody sees
What is clear to me
And it just can't be denied
You are the life of the party
Everybody knows it's true
You are the life of the party
And you know they all love you
So flash that smile and take a bow
Dazzle the room like only you know how
Here she comes boys so don't look now
She's the life of the party
You've had it all your life
And you know just how to play
It comes easy like the wind
You have it everyday
Repeat Pre Chorus and Chorus
I wish I could just have a piece of what you've got
To get me far it would not take a lot
Instrumental Break
Repeat Chorus
Outro

definitely much more fun, could actually imagine you smiling while singing this one
music first, then wordy bit...
that bassline was pretty cool.
id have even brought that up as the main instrument, maybe!
pretty good mix too, you definitely have improved over the years, if i were you, id pat myself on the back ocassionally for that, as well as thanking those who helped (which i see you do often)
the sax solo, id have left off the second one, brought me in mind of a tv show theme as an ending.
like the synth coming in on the later verse, little variation in the timbres, nice touch!
some moments had me in mind of the pet shop boys, who it may surprise you to learn, im a fan of
not like die hard, but have a few albums and do enjoy them.
wordy bits.
no comment on the voice, you have your own opinion there, however, the actual lyrics.
one thing, whatever you do, be it disco, pop or even when you went nin! your vocabulary, things like "gal" in a disco song, or in nin i noticed for example "weiner".
these things wouldnt be said (especially cant see trent saying weiner
) and thats one of the things i like about your stuff, you stamp your personality on it.
you wont drop an f bomb in the lyrics for the sake of it, youd say dang or some such. true to yourself

Oh, I thought you were referring to the disco group Machine because I don't hear it. Good to know that I wasn't being compared to them, not that they're bad. But their style is way different from mine.
As for me being a machine, growing up with disco had a big influence on this whole project. I couldn't have done this as fast as I am if I had to first learn what disco was. And even at that, I'm trying so hard to make each song a little different and that's been the most difficult part. Right now, I have no idea what to do for the last two tracks. Only thing I know is I want to finish big. What that means, well, that's a difficult question to answer in itself. There haven't been a lot of "epic" disco songs. I mean sure, a lot of flashy stuff but epic? I don't know. I'm thinking maybe Ralph Carter or Love Unlimited Orchestra. Except these songs are starting to get unwieldy as it is. 22 tracks for this tune almost had my PC on its knees.
Anyway, I'm sure something will come to me. In the meantime, my fans have EDM as 2nd place in the poll but that's so close to disco that I'm not sure I want to do that so soon after finishing this project. After that, it's metal. So I don't know.
Time to get some inspiration. Maybe I'll go listen to The Bee Gees.

you could go prog metal
see later porcupine tree (signify) or even use 20th century schizoid man as the inspiration, really heavy prog.

Well, we'll see. In the meantime, I still have 2 more disco songs to do and don't want to drop the ball this close to the goal line.vurt wrote: Mon Jul 20, 2020 8:53 pm you could go prog metal

That new song reminds me of We Are Family.
Many paid and free VSTs as well as Kontakt libraries. As well as HW synths/drum machine and acoustic instruments.

No, not really. Been doing this since 1977. So writing songs for me is like breathing for you. I just do it. I could write a song a day with no problem. Depending on how complex the arrangement and production are, that could take me a few days. Longest I ever spent on one song was 9 days. But I alway finish whatever I start. It's not really a big deal for me.Halonmusic wrote: Mon Jul 20, 2020 10:42 pm im amazed how you are able to put out so many songs. i have a gazillion unfinished projects. i just cant find the inspiration and drive to finish them. do you set a certain goal for yourself ?
