Or Sculpture in Logic, which predates Chromaphone by about 8 years (but is unfortunately Logic-only).SLiC wrote: Mon Jul 13, 2020 1:12 pm I'm not realy hearing anything I can't do with Chromaphone (a very underrated synth IMHO) but I am sure there is a lot more to come...I was hoping he would pan for a screenshot!

Regarding concerns that this is "the end for Absynth"…Absynth has already been in maintenance mode since version 5 was released 10 years ago. Doesn't seem like they had any plans to develop it further.

IIRC there is a video where Brian states that he was working on Absynth 6.
Or something like that.
If Absynth 6 or a lookalike is not in Komplete 13 then it is dead and will stay dead forever thereafter.

I’ll believe an Absynth 6 when I see it. I seriously doubt they’ll ever be another, but this synth is really nothing like it, so I don’t know why anyone would even bring it up. Other than he developed Absynth a long time ago, there’s nothing.Arashi wrote: Wed Jul 22, 2020 1:04 am Regarding concerns that this is "the end for Absynth"…Absynth has already been in maintenance mode since version 5 was released 10 years ago. Chromaphone sounds good, but it’s seriously lacking in features that could make it a really expressive instruments. Plasmonic is already going to be MPE, which is huge for me. Instant buy.SLiC wrote: Mon Jul 13, 2020 1:12 pm I'm not realy hearing anything I can't do with Chromaphone (a very underrated synth IMHO) but I am sure there is a lot more to come...I was hoping he would pan for a screenshot!

My humble view:
I have never seen Brian talking about future products. And I have already asked him directly.
My personal guess is that at the moment absynth is what it is and that there are no new versions planned. Same like that there are no new versions planned for an hardware synth from the 70ties..
But it's still maintained from NI for system compatibility..
For me Plasmonic in a way is the new absynth.
Absynth's idea is an expressive sound source, not a copy of any existing hardware, but its own sound vision.
And Plasmonic is now this idea more developed into something more expressive. But fully thought it through and start it as something complete new and don't try to include it into something existing with the possibility to clutter it.

I believe you are correct about Brian talking about future products.
I also believe that you are correct that there will not be an Absynth 6.
But I am a dreamer and sometime I express my dreams at KVR.
As stated above "If Absynth 6 or a lookalike is not in Komplete 13 then it is dead and will stay dead forever thereafter." Ok, it has been dead since 2009? or 2011 or died a bit later?
Not convinced yet that Plasmonic in a way is the new absynth.
I am a dreamer so I will hope it is true.
Absynth 5 Overview with Brian Clevinger
Brian At 7:05 said “I am always working on Absynth”… “working on stuff for the future” I took this as working on Absynth 6. Yes this was in 2011 and plans can and do change over time, but he did sound very committed to Absynth. This is nine years later, too much time has passed to have any meaning about the present let alone the future.
Edit the Edit: Keep in mind that the last update for Absynth 5 was in 2015 so in the 2011 video Brian was just saying the he was working on Absynth 5 updates. But in my mind the "future" meant Absynth 6.

I think you can read between the lines a bit here. Brian doesn't work for NI anymore. They own Absynth, they obviously didn't request he release v6 before he left, and it's rare for companies to continue to do business with a sole proprietor they used to employ as a regular employee. I would expect the most NI are going to request from Brian in the case of Absynth are basic compatibility requirements.Kalamata Kid wrote: Wed Jul 22, 2020 4:46 am ^^^

Plasmonic isn't going to be like a new Absynth, if it was too close, he could get in trouble with NI for sure. I can't imagine he could release a synth that was a direct copy of Absynth without getting in trouble with NI.

I don't see it as a direct copy of absynth.
It isn't for sure. It's a complete different sound creating synthesis.
I see it a development of the CORE IDEA of absynth. Which is for me the vision of an organic/expressive sound creature...
I can't wait to play with plasmonic.
Thanks guys for sharing your views

You missed the possibility that Absynth 6 was ready by the time Brian left NI but was has not been released. Perhaps they would not be able to fix any issues nor make any updates. Be aware that from our perspective that companies do not always act logical.machinesworking wrote: Wed Jul 22, 2020 5:22 amI think you can read between the lines a bit here. I have no idea about the agreement between Brian and NI so I cannot comment about your second paragraph.

Yeah I don't know, I would suspect that NI probably don't want to give up on Absynth, but probably aren't capable of really re-coding it.Kalamata Kid wrote: Wed Jul 22, 2020 6:00 am You missed the possibility that Absynth 6 was ready by the time Brian left NI but was has not been released. I have no idea what the contract was like with NI, and how amicable or otherwise the split was, but Brian is one guy, VS a big company. I would expect no one wants any conflict.
Mostly, I trust Brian to make a fantastic synth. Absynth 1.5 and on was my favorite soft synth for years. I loved that it wasn't just another virtual analog.

It's true though. Just decided to go his own way. NI retains the rights and code to Absynth, AFAIK.gunnar wrote: Wed Jul 22, 2020 6:02 am I would like to.hear you guys from where you have the info that Brian is no longer with NI
