I've watched all the vids now for MTurboReverb, and gone through most of the manual. I suspect it's possible, but not quite seeing how to create custom curves for:
1) Gate release (Actually, what I really want here is more along the lines of a triggered envelope, but a custom release curve would suffice.
2) Late reflections ramp up (slow down attack to ease in late reflections)
3) Decay curves for both early and late reflections
4) Multi-point ADSR style dampening curve rather than single freq with Q control
I suspect from the manual that the gate release would be defined using the "envelope graph menu". Perhaps I'm just missing something, but the manual says these additional options come up when right clicking on "the graph". Contextually, I take "the graph" to mean the processing shape graph in the dynamics tab. Right clicking, however, does not bring up additional options. (Mac 10.11.6, Logic 10.3.3, Melda 13.something [too many issues to get into regarding updates])
As for defining the attack and release curves of the early and late reflections, I'm not sure what to look at since I see MP's, but no modulators with which to insert a custom envelope. I haven't looked into whether the reverb bits are fully available in MXXX if those tools would help, though I suspect it may all be possible withing MTR, and I'm just not seeing how yet.
As for the Dampening curves, I'm not even sure where to look, or if that may not be possible because the specifics of single freq and Q as currently configured are tied into the way the algos are generated or some similar issue.
MTurboReverb: Possible to define custom attack / release / damping / gate curves?

MTurboReverb has 8 modulators - they're hiding out in the usual place for Melda plugins, in the Meters & Utilities section. Open up the Utilities subsection to see them.Annabanna wrote: Tue Jul 14, 2020 4:20 pm ...I'm not sure what to look at since I see MP's, but no modulators with which to insert a custom envelope...
1) You'll have to build your own gate out of a mod envelope, since custom release curves aren't included in MTR's Dynamics section. That's why you couldn't find them. The manual in this case is referring to graphs in general, such as the custom attack and release graphs you'll find in the ASDR -> Custom Shape section of the mod envelope, which you will need to adjust to make your custom curve anyway. I rarely bother with the manuals, instead just clicking on the ? icons in each section to see what everything in that section does. The manual is basically just a concatenation of all the help windows.
2, 3) A mod follower or mod envelope should take care of these. It's just a matter of modulating the appropriate Volume/Gain parameters.
4) If you're looking to apply an envelope to the gain (or whatever) on the dampening filters, that's again easy enough to do with a modulator. If you were wanting to draw an EQ curve for dampening beyond what the two filters provide, I don't think that's possible.

OK, thx. Getting used to the Melda layout again after only using some pre-made bits and bobs for last year or so. I thought I remembered only seeing MP's, but I'll look again when I've got it in front of me.jmalge wrote: Wed Jul 15, 2020 2:21 amMTurboReverb has 8 modulators - they're hiding out in the usual place for Melda plugins, in the Meters & Utilities section. I suspected the custom EQ over time (damping) might be an issue since my rather limited understanding indicates the damping is integrated into the algorithm.
I should be good to go with the rest, though. Thx.
Btw... Loving the flexibility, but not thrilled with the plate/spring algos for my purposes thus far. Messing with them now to see if I can tailor them, but interested to see any other user algos. I dug up a thread on here, and see the user upload option on the plug. Is there a particular spot / resource / repository that I may have missed that's likely to have some alternative spring / plate algos I can dig into?

The problem with algorithms is that THEY define the outcome, you cannot really draw anything. And this is exactly what is so complex about the reverb design. It's soooo "not WYSIWYG"
