Hi Guys,

I'm new to Tracktion Waveform and already love it! It's been a long time since I've done music production (late 90s) and thought I would dabble a bit again.

I've noticed a problem when using my Beats Solo bluetooth headphones as the Output source in Waveform Free. There appears to be a noticeable delay in sound of around .25-.5 sec. This noticeable when playing midi or just hitting playback as the sound output doesn't line up with screen.

However, if I plug my headphones in, using the aux output, everything is fine. So, this is clearly related to bluetooth support somehow.

I don't experience any audio delay issues over bluetooth with any other software I use thus making me believe it's something to do with Waveform itself.

What can I do to remove the delay over bluetooth in Waveform Free?

Thanks!

@midklang

Thanks for the video explanation latency. I'm already aware that it is latency. What I don't understand is why latency is so bad when using Waveform and how I might be able to improve it? Surely in this day and age, there are ways of reducing bluetooth latency within a DAW?

Is it just something that is un-rectifiable and i have to go and find a 10ft headphone cable so I can get around my studio room and record at the same time?

most likely your other apps are doing av sync ( https://www.reviewgeek.com/38434/why-do ... or-gaming/ ) to mask all that latench (delay the video the same as the audio latency)

Which audio driver do you use? Asio or core audio?

I'm on a Macbook Pro, so I use whatever is built in. I've not messed with any of the drivers. I've got a funny feeling there isn't a solution.

There is a solution: do use a professinal inear wireless system.

Correct, the macbook built in sound card has latency + Bluetooth has latency.
Use an interface designed for music production and you will experience lower offsets.
