Not quite a half, 80/50 != 1/2... but anyways they're both really good value for money. As for workflow, I like having the entire mix with all the effects and such right in front of me. In eXT to put in an effect you have to connect all the wires and stuff, and if you want to replace an effect you have to delete it, insert a new one, and then reconnect all the wires.

you're right about the point with the missing 'replace'-feature (but eXT on the other hand has a search-function and a 'recent'-list) and it's one of the little problems I mentioned but I don't get what you mean with 'wiring' it? :? - You simply insert it and that's it - it's the same thing as with Tracktion. (only that eXT has sends )

 Can it be that you don't know how to insert fx into a sequencer's track?

It's probably a bit hidden :?

Do you wire all your fx on the main-area?

Actually I only recently got eXT so I really don't know that much about it. I guess I'll have to play around with it some more but it seems to be a bit more clunky workflow wise than Tracktion but that may just be my lack of experiance with it.

Tracktion is the king of un-clunky-ness to me.

I guess I've been spoilt with easy self explanitory programs such as Acid and Tracktion, abd should get off my lazy bum and figure eXTs sequencer out, but IMO Tracktion has the better workflow simply because of its ease of use.

yeah - but my point is that it is for me simply not true that's it simpler to use than e.g. eXT - some things about Tracktion are simply wonderful  but concearning general workflow at least for me eXT is already one step ahead (folder-tracks, ghosted midi-clips, mutable clips, multi-channel audio-tracks, marker-tracks, automation-presets, file-browser, much better midi-editing etc. 8) )

Yeah, I think the thing that scared me off was the 5 page tutorial on how to get started with it. :-o... but I'll mess aroud w/ it tommorrow.

I have the latest eXT up now and I'm trying to get a sequencer to drive an instance of Wusikstation. In Tracktion this took me 2 minutes to figure out with the pop-up help, in eXT it took me about 10 minutes and close to screaming at it to get this working!

The best program is worthless without good documentation or a nice online guide. I have zero desire to spend hours plowing through help on a Website when I want to be RECORDING MUSIC for heavens sake! And the default skin, gaah everything looks the same color to me! Hey, lots of folks have problems telling the difference between shades of blue, how about something with some contrast to it? And don't tell me I can change it because the standalone version doesn't install with any other skins! Now I want to resize a MIDI clip so I can record more into it, how in hell do I do that? Right click produces a list of options none of which I want!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying eXT isn't a solid, stable program with lots of features and options.. I'm just telling you that, for a casual downloader that is demo'ing the product, out of the box it's not terribly friendly. No online help so if my DAW wasn't connected to the Web I'd be toast, which for a program of this complexity is nothing short of criminal. Can't someone at least put a "getting started.html" in the installer? And maybe some default example setups?

eXT has tons of potential, I can't argue that. But if I can't figure it out (and I've used almost every sequencer in existence) then your average musician is going to look once and trash it. Even Cubasis was easier to pick up! :(

This is why eXT ends up in the trash.. sure it has more features, none of which I can get to without spending hours online watching tutorials or desperately searching Websites! I'm not a tinkerer, I'm a musician, and bottom line if I can't use a tool within an hour of getting it, it's worthless to me and out it goes.

Exactly the way I felt with podium.
As for guides for eXT there's a pdf manual and as for skins they're on www.xt-hq.com
