Multi Sampler- pad working but greyed out?

I'm still having a hard time getting my head around the Multi Sampler: I've loaded a soundfont and it plays fine. The tom drums were all mapped to their default positions and correspond to the tom pads on the Pads screen. 3 of the four are normal: clicking on the pad reveals the samples and ADSR envelope controls, but for some reason one of the toms is greyed out, and I can't see the samples, nor change the settings when I select it. The pad works fine, clicking on it plays all the velocity layers. I don't see any reason why it would be greyed out... I'm under the impression that if a pad has a key assigned which corresponds to samples in the zones section then it should automatically not be greyed out? I'm proceeding cautiously because trying to reassign pads has caused some crashes.

Ah, the soundfont mapping is odd. The root note was wrong... so I need to select all samples on that key and change the root note for all, but it looks like I have to do it for every sample individually. There's no marquee select.
