That snare sounds pretty amazing for a synthesized one, IMHO. Props!

yeah we are all amazed with that snareschiing wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 2:13 pm Just a quick demo I thought I'd share - I think this might be one of my favourite snare patches that I've made: A full-bodied snare, probably somewhere between a Linn and a real one...? (I really hope it's as "in-the-pocket" as I think it is - my opinions often change on an hourly basis!)
I said no fx, but it does go through the master chain here, so there's some slight colouring, saturation and dynamic control going on outside of Surge.

zero pressure, no requirement, and no is a fine answer, but if you would be willing, we could include it in the factory patches for 1.7.2.

Hi! This is my first experience of participating in such tests, but I think it will be very useful to participate in order to improve my skills. I am an ordinary Amateur and do not play music professionally. Therefore, both the music and mixing of the track are probably terrible! Don't cut off my head, please!

I used the Klanghelm DC1A for that sweet smacking sound that really makes the snare rattle in the demo, followed by a free tape emulator (SNG03G) into a 4% room verb. I'll try to bake an approximation of this into the onboard effect chain, so it sounds as good as possible out of the box.
I can't get it quite as compact/natural with the built-in limiter/reverb - it just sits a bit deeper and tighter with the DC1A - but I'll play around for a bit and PM your way!

This is the drum beat. Kick, snr, & hat with the sustain turned up
This is a crazy synth, I’ve only scratched the surface, you could have a number of OsC with this and always find new ways to play.
Should of taken a bit more time in the preparation, it just happened organically
@schiing
That snare is really nice
@ Taron
Always look on the downside, then when things turn out ok ish, then you don’t feel so sad

Question: Are AirWindows effects allowed in OSC? They are not technically free, right? What about Analogue Obsession plugins? They too are patreon supported.

While Patreon supported, the plugins are still freely distributed. I'm sure I've seen folks using AirWindows stuff on OSC entries in the past, with no eyebrows raised.

Wow Terje, fab snare ... now I am looing forward to your track with bated breath!!!!!!!!!!!
Here's up update on my WIP ... removed the porta from the guitar-thing, shorter decay as well. Added a seashore fx, added a deep bass(almost sub), added some flute harmonies and also some pitchybendy stuff on the flute now and then. And ... @Taron, hope the mix is better and less piercing to the ears of those who can hear things over 9k!!!!!!!!!!
Also, another bit pf phrasing added as well, the track is getting longer!!!
Let me know how it sounds.
Many TIA

That's a pretty nice track , I can't fine any real faults. But, If you're looking for more constructive criticism, some of the other members could probably help if asked...

Snare off But quite good snare. I think the best snare I ever heard in OSC was by Carl in the 134 round.schiing wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 2:13 pm Just a quick demo I thought I'd share - I think this might be one of my favourite snare patches that I've made: A full-bodied snare, probably somewhere between a Linn and a real one...? Thanks, doc! If only I could find my muse this round... I feel lazy, and currently shuttle between the hammock and John Wick movies.
That would make an interesting sub-challenge - everyone submits their favourite snare each round. The winner gets everyone else's undying respect, and the synth developer gets a cool zip with 40 snares!
