XILS Chor-X has a nice Dimension D along with some other vintage chorus emulations.

Yeah that would be the Modulation Delay plugin with the D Mode engaged. I should try that myself actually.

OSL Chorus (freeware) is the best and closest I've heard so far to Roland chorus. Not sure if it's the one you are looking but worth to try.

That's the Juno-Chorus - very different thing (nice too though)the.new.me wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2020 4:22 am OSL Chorus (freeware) is the best and closest I've heard so far to Roland chorus. Not sure if it's the one you are looking but worth to try.

This is a good question! Surprisingly, for some effects there are only a few emulations. The Dimension D but also the Smallstone Phaser are certainly among them. The UAD has set the bar high but I've also tested some of the other and finally stayed with the ValhallaÜbermod.

I have the Waza Craft Dimension C/D re-issue. While the Ubermod & NI Chorale can get you into "chorus but not chorus" territory I don't find they have quite the same impact.

Can you be more specific? Do you mean impact literally, like some kind of transient preservation?ChamomileShark wrote: Wed Aug 19, 2020 9:23 am I have the Waza Craft Dimension C/D re-issue. I think it's something to do with the stereo field. The Dimension D was popular in studios but I think many people struggled to put into words what it did.Liero wrote: Wed Aug 19, 2020 10:01 amCan you be more specific? This is from an old SoS article
"This Roland product is a rather enigmatic device in that it is difficult to precisely describe its function. Rather than being a blatant effects unit, it falls more into the category of psychoacoustic processors such as the Aphex Aural Exciter, although the two devices are not directly comparable.
The function of this device is to either synthesise a stereo image from a mono source, or to further enhance a stereo sound source, and it may be effectively used on single instruments or complete mixes."
UAD say "famous for injecting spatialization, and sweet, subtle modulation. Used as a “secret sauce” by everyone from Brian Eno to Stevie Ray Vaughan, this legendary rack piece is an ideal example of functional simplicity."
So to me the Ubermod and Chorale sort of cover the "chorus non chorus" thing but I don't get the same spacialisation effect I get when I turn on the Waza Craft. I don't have that thing where my brain goes "oh, hello somethings changed".

kinda late to the thread, but didn't see anyone mention the Arturia sim:https://www.arturia.com/products/softwa ... imension-d (https://www.arturia.com/products/software-effects/modulations-bundle/chorusdimension-d)
pretty expensive, but sometimes on sale, bundled with their Phaser:

and Flanger:

which are also nice
