Get Windows VST2 here.Aro wrote: Mon Aug 24, 2020 8:57 pm I've got a question for the developers. I'm not super computer savvy, so. But I was wanting to use Surge in my notation program, which currently only accepts VST2. Now, I read on the Surge website that there is an older VST2 version of Surge. But if I downloaded that, would I still be able to use the most current version of Surge as well? Thanks.

Thanks @ed! I try to get my tracks to be around -14 LUFS, and DR around 10. Of course the track is -15.4 LUFS!!!!!! Not 15.4
@Eauson - I have no problem with comments here in public! I really appreciate this because it helps me zero in on what other people are hearing! My ears are over 70 years old, so do lack certain frequencies now! Also working with bands (FOH/recording) back in the 70's also probably didn't help. Once "borrowed" the PA from Hatfield and the North (playing support), a Manor Mobile rig, 4k per channel QUAD! Loud indeed, and not -14 LUFS!!!!
Not had a chance to listen yet - will try in day or so's time. Thanks for the nice comment @Peter:H

@Evil Dragon Thanks! It still won't open in my notation software because it says Surge doesn't have a graphic editor. I can see that this is territory beyond me, so. I'll probably update my DAW eventually anyways, so I can work with notation and piano roll at the same time. Better workflow.

You still need to install Surge from the website, all the required assets are in there. This is just the VST2 plugin file which you put in your VST2 folder and let your notation software scan it.

I just wanted to add that in Notion, you have to enable VSTs but for some reason, with Surge, the message "Surge: The plug-in doesn't have a graphic editor" comes up.
Like I said, its no big deal. I just like working with synths to compose with.

ok... so...
following this
https://soundcloud.com/maze-6000/the-ca ... e-instance
i made this
https://soundcloud.com/maze-6000/the-ca ... -surge-vst
which will be my entry now
I first wanted to string the two together, but I can't open the first one anymore and wasn't happy with recreating it or importing the audio, so.. I uploaded the first one again so it's in front of the second one on soundcloud, you can listen to both in a row if you like, and if not you don't have to sit through all of it.
FL Studio 20
5 instances of Surge, patches made from scratch, using internal FX
mixed with Fruity Parametric EQ 2
Rough Rider on the drums
Maximus, airwindows Tape and D16 Frontier on the master bus
And these are my patches

2nd is your submission or 1st one? Hope the OSC guys don't get confused scanning through the thread. may be you can support them in making unmistakeably clear which one is your submission.MaZe 6000 wrote: Wed Aug 26, 2020 3:41 pm ok... so...

Here's my official entry this month.
https://soundcloud.com/lionsclub-1/in-t ... lighthouse
I really felt this one through, so I hope it connects with your feelers too. I wrote much more chord movement than I usually do, which was fun.
Studio One 4
12 instances of Surge
2xLimiter
3x Pro Eq
Thanks Dr. Bob for the Loudness meter!

@Aro ... no problem ... enlightening isn't it?
Also, I have updated my track a little - added in an extra TDR Nova (dynamic EQ) to try to tame those stray resonances which hit the ears of some!! In the process the loudness went to -15 LUFS due to some extra volume shaping. I might still push the bass up a bit, but it's mainly near sub-bass, so not sure it would add much, and could be a distraction. Vote here for MORE bass ... a few days to go!

15 Surge instances in Ableton Live, (3 more that my usual 12 maximum!)
