well, it definitely looks like it. they certainly took all the time in the world to release it, it's true, but I could only think if you gave Neural DSP all those years for development, what kind of an amp sim they would come up with.

this looks extremely underwhelming, I can't put it differently.

I think you need to wait for GR6 to get released and demo it. You can't really judge by the screen shots.

FWIW.. I demoed Neural and to be honest, I am not that big a fan of their sound. I demoed Cory Wong a while back. and more recently Plini. I know everyone online keeps raving how great it sounds but I personally just don't dig those guitar tones.

..but if NI puts a heavy tag on this, nope from me. This is not something that deserves a heavy tag. This is incremental and deserves an upgrade price. We'll see about prices, I'm actually interested how NI will price this and upgrade too...

I am pretty sure the upgrade from GR5 to GR6 will be priced well. NI's product strategy is usually very competitive prices. If I am lucky, they might do another co-promo with interface and I get GR6 for free with a new interface. I am still on my old Komplete 6 interface. Time to upgrade. Maybe NI can look at what IKM did with Axe and do something there for us guitar players that are NI product users. <-- hint.. hint..

screenshots have nothing to do with it. it's that I don't appreciate when companies rehash their old stuff under seemingly new moniker and charge their customers double for what they already paid for. how many people here already have the compressors, solid mix, reverb classics, mod pack, crush, etc, etc? you don't need the demo to see what's going on here.

besides, the code for old stomps and FX transferred from GR5 and older must be the same. it's not like they went back in time and re-measured and re-modeled all this hardware they had ready for GR5. that would be a massive work and brainstorm if they did, but they made a safe choice. it's the same stuff, even the names are same.

so they make you pay twice for what you already had for years, only now it looks "cooler", "more hip". but the thing is, even GUI is not really catching up with 2020. I've seen people like Requietus who did a better job at skins given way for free and this was a few years back. It's not like it matters a hell lot, but even in this regard GR6 falls behind to what competition is making today.

And last but not least, sys reqs state that Guitar Rig 6 is Win 10 only. Full stop right there. Presonus already lost my money when they made that switch with S1, now NI joins the club.

And how many DON'T have them? Do you have the stats? You don't.

Also you can use those effects inside GR in a different way than you would in a DAW (ofc depending what your DAW is and how it is with custom modulation and routing).

Would be interested to know. 99% sure at least it will be a separate plugin, so always possible to use the old one I guess.

I'm actually [ducks] a big fan of GR5. Its distortion and drive may not always be the best, but its killer for cleaner and especially ambient and effects sounds. Reckon there'll be way more to play with on that score in 6. Nice to see some Zola Jesus presets too.

I didn't use Guitar Rig yet, but now it looks like it got a proper upgrade. High-DPI interface rework for a legacy product definitely is a way to go, and gives up hope for more.

Do you by any chance know how the additional stuff is going to be handled for people who own for example Replika XT and Driver? How much will they get charged for these modules, or will they get them for free when available?

It doesn't matter. What goes in GR6 doesn't care about other NI FX you might own. And I don't recall GR ever had a paid-for minor update, so any new content coming into it will be for free.

Yes, but in GR5, if i'm not mistaken (never bought any of the few plugins that also work inside GR5) it worked exactly like that?

But if ALL additional stuff is going to be for free, that'd be totally awesome (if they actually make any additional stuff, that is )
