Tracktion Racks Question

Ok, so I've used Rack Filters now for a few things. I've pretty much been lazy and stuck to the old way of having multiple instances of multi-out plug-ins on each track.

But now, I've tried to more familiarize myself with racks, and I'm trying to use the multiple outs, but it doesn't work. I've enabled all of my outputs on my soundcard, using the KX drivers. The plug-in, which is the EastWest/Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra Silver, shows 16 outputs when inserted into a rack. The first two only are connected when started, plus the MIDI cable.

Inside the program, I try to assign each instrument in a multi to it's own outputs, which it lets me do.

But here's the problem. The rack only shows two outputs available to route to. I've tried adding an output using the button down below, and routing different things to the new outputs. No luck. I've tried setting the track to a different soundcard output. No luck.

I went through the tutorials on adbe.org and TF, with no luck. One tutorial has you create a new rack, drag the plug, and all the outputs are there and connected automatically. Why won't mine do that? In the raw rack filter, not on the plug-in, how can I get more outputs besides just the midi plus the basic two stereo outputs? As I've said, I've tried using the button to add new outputs, then re-routed each track to the new outputs. I've tried everything the tutorials say, three times or more.

Please help. I hope I am clear enough with my problem. I thought I had this working a while back when racks first came out.

Ok, so I can't believe I overlooked this, but I set the channel on the recording device to the same channel that I set the instrument to that I wanted to sound, and it worked. And it all plays back on the right sounds now.

However, is there an easier way? This seems pretty easy already, as Kontakt Player automatically assigns each sound to the next available midi channel.

And is there a way to by default get more outputs into a rack? Or is the only way to add your own? When I create a new, blank rack, I have a midi input and out, then two audio input and outs. Is that the only way you can do it? If so, that's fine. Just checking anyway.

Maybe I'm just tired and can't think. If I'm rambling, I apolagize. I must get to sleep now.

Since I just posted this yesterday, I'll cut'n'paste:

dump bfd on a track by itself.

Right click on it and select "wrap this filter in a rack"

A choose "yes" to autowire.

Copy the rack on to as many tracks as you want audio outs, and for each of these tracks select the rack, and choose the rack outputs you want this track to receive.

Well, that trick works to get all the outputs. However, and maybe I'm just trying something that's not possible, when I try and use different outputs for different tracks, only the first sound comes out. I can't get the other sounds to come out. For some reason, I don't think the different outputs are the same as different sound card outputs.

I wonder if my problem is with the Kontakt Player. Maybe it doesn't do this. The outputs coming out of the Kontakt player don't seem to be matching with soundcard outputs. Wow, now I've just confused myself.

Well, if nothing else works, I can just set each midi clip to the appropriate midi channel and it works perfect. But if there are other suggestions, I do like to find out as much as possible about racks.

I just woke up and now I'm tired again. :-o
