Yeah, the problem with working in the environment to change how Logic addresses MIDI input probably hasn't changed since I tried it around version 8. If you rewire all of the MIDI inputs to not Sum, Mackie Control gets hosed. I'm sure the same thing would happen to any of the controllers you can use for Smart Controls.pdxindy wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 10:06 pm Yup... that is my biggest annoyance with Logic. Only one controller at a time! (Unless you use the Environment which is a nightmare)
I suppose if someone uses Push constantly, all the button combos may become second nature... but they never did for me. And when I wouldn’t use it for a month it felt like I was back to square 1
I prefer a tactile surface to the iPad screen, but first time I launched Logic Remote with 10.5 I had no trouble figuring everything out without any manual.
Logic Remote is not complete... but it works great and no doubt Apple will keep developing it.
And Logic 10.5 was a massive update!
AFA Push is concerned, honestly I use it a lot more with Bitwig, Moss's brain is wired more like mine than Ableton's apparently, I get a lot of use out of it, and am a little bummed the Apple Logic team so far only support Launchpads, but Push 2 support is a long shot I get it.
I use a Slate Raven with DP10, and I like it a lot for Mackie Control type functions, VST/AU plug in control etc. I like tactile, but the advantage of touch screens is obvious with DAWs IMO.
I think the obvious downside to getting an iPad now is that Apple is going all in on their own silicon, and my luck is as soon as I get one, they release a combination Macbook Pro / iPad that beats the crap out of a Microsoft Surface performance wise, and runs all of this Logic and Logic Control in one app intuitively.
