I see; is it too late to have separate installers for effects and instruments? (I only own effects.)

You don't need to install that, there's a switch in the installer. I'd recommend checking MSoundFactory out thoughe@rs wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2020 10:25 am I see; is it too late to have separate installers for effects and instruments? (I only own effects.)

Guys, my problem is with the download size increase of the installer. I'm familiar on how the installer works [I use Melda products since V8 (those were separate installers for each product if I remember right; not that I want that back)].

I'm afraid separate installers etc. would cause way too much trouble, sorry.e@rs wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2020 10:55 am Guys, my problem is with the download size increase of the installer. Yes, and that's already rather difficult, sorry. Plus it would be confusing.

I agree with e@rs... what if SoundFactory (Player?) gets bigger and bigger, then it would affect more and more significantly the size of an installer of which I (and many others possibly) maybe need just a few plugins.
I am okay with how the download was before SoundFactory, I'd much prefer having Sound Factory downloads completely separated, just like MDrummer.
Also, I think there is some confusion about SoundFactory... too many versions and too much content spread around...
It's even acknowledged here.

It's not easy at all understanding what you get and how and where.
A totally different install process for everything related to SoundFactory would make things a lot easier. At least for the user.
And it's the user that should be happy in the first place, right?
Unhappy user are less likely to invest.
Just my two cents...

True, if MSoundFactoryPlayer becomes successful, there will likely be a special installer for the 3rd parties. But you know how it is - someone always has it easier, if we would do installers for instruments separate from effects, the most loyal customers would have to use both, and these would install from a big part the same thing! Not mentioning compatibility problems due to the shared kernel. It just cannot be done at this point and the most loyal customers are the priority anyways. Right now, most of the resources are shared with all plugins after all, so the only advantage would be installer size lowered by say 20%, in exchange for hell of a lot of problems for us and loyal customers, so...

Re the download speeds for some users... I found that my issue with speed (one Windows 10) was related to the "Download to" folder being set to the Desktop folder.
My Desktop folder is automatically synced by OneDrive back up to the Microsoft cloud, so the large download files were then auto-uploading to the OneDrive cloud, causing slowness on my connection.
To fix this, I just changed the Download folder to a local folder (e.g. a new C:\temp folder) that wouldn't sync back to OneDrive.

Please can you add an Uninstall option to the MSF in-app content installer? I had a hard time removing the content so I could install to my preferred drive. I had to fully delete the plugin and the Roaming data directory. I hadn’t noticed that it had defaulted back to C:
