DIVA's filters & modulation as external FX?

Don't know if this has been mentioned before, or whether this can be done with what you get, but I figured that it would be mental to manage to apply the power of Diva's filters and modulation to other VSTi's.

How practical/possible is this, Urs?

Audio Input is on the menu for an update some time this year. I hope.

Otherwise of course Cytomic's The Drop will be out soon, which uses similar techniques (maybe even more precise models) and is optimised for any audio, whereas DIva is optimised for synthesis. Audio Input on Diva will process monophonic (stereo sum).

We'll see, maybe we'll manage to add things to Runciter or Filterscape as well.

Urs, I think it's very cool that you give respect to other devs like that. Have seen you do it more than once. I know everyone would love it if U-he did a little bit of everything but, I'm pretty glad that you stay focused on what you do (and push the limits of that) and I think it's great that occasionally, you say "check out these guys they're doing exactly that".

*edit*... and to go way off topic here, I would some day love to know what kind of gear (hardware and virtual) each of the U-he crew use.

Sweet!

Reviving... has external audio input processing ever been added to Diva?

Thanks,
Mario

No.

I most often use Reaktor Blocks for such things.

Audio input for Diva? Wow!
This is actually my big dream for Bazille.
But hey, no complaints from here - this is really exciting news!

Except "this year" was 2012...

Haha! :hihi:
Well, should have checked the date. Pretty obvious I didn't.
So I guess I shouldn't save that special bottle of Champagne for Audio Input Day, then. :ud:

Let's say I'm not going to hold my breath... Mono filter would not be so great anyway compared to what we have now. A "Divify" would have been great though.

Or maybe a Zebrify HZ?

I agree with both of you, mabian and aMUSEd.
My statement about audio input being my big dream for Bazille isn't entirely true. I've been dreaming of it because it's how I tend to work with hardware, mixing audio sources into the modular flow. So audio input would emulate this workflow.

However hardware and software aren't the same (I actually prefer software, which is a lucky position both money and storage wise), and rather than audio inputs, I really prefer a solution like Zebrify.
Well, in most cases I actually prefer Zebrify. I use it all the time, I find it to be one of my best tools.

So rather than dreaming of audio inputs in various synths, I do in fact hope that Zebra3 will come with a new Zebrify.
Then I'd probably open that special bottle of Champagne.

Yeah me too - I appreciate the idea of having a synth with audio ins, but in practice prefer something that looks and functions more like an actual effect.

Exactly.
Routing audio in a DAW isn't really difficult. Still I don't do it every day (or even week, I guess), simply because it's just a little fiddly.
Adding Zebrify = no fiddly at all.
