BR: MIDI recording. Waveform is unusable. I'm done.

I think this is the final straw. This bug has been there since around Waveform 8 and it's still not fixed. It does the same thing whether retrospective recording is switched on or off, and retrospective recording is equally out of time. It's a total game breaker.
I think that after this project I'm done. I can't put up with this anymore, and it's a really sad state of affairs. Waveform has been fundamentally broken for many versions now and there are no signs of any of these things being fixed. If anyone has any suggestions of any DAW and why it's better, I'm open to them. I'm most likely to switch to Bitwig or Studio One. Reasons why not to use them or indeed why to stick with Waveform are welcome.

I also see you have your midi vsti plugin in a Rack or Rack Wrapper . Racks have the worst of the PDC issues , a work around would be to use the regular vsti plugin .....outside of the rack wrapper , I know p.i.t.a. right ? You probably already knew that too ...

I've been doing a bit of MIDI recording from keyboard lately and have never encountered this scenario, with or without using a rack. Does it happen every time?
How are the settings on your Audio Devices page? Anything in there you may have accidentally tweaked? Are you using Realtime Priority Mode (which from my Windows experience is almost always a bad idea).

The last time I saw recording that was out of time was way back when I was using Cubase SL and I was using the generic Steinberg ASIO driver instead of the one made specifically for my sound card.
...or was the issue that I was using a virtual MIDI port or something like that?
Anyways, if you post a screenshot of your Settings -> Audio Devices and also maybe the Settings -> MIDI Devices we might be able to spot issues.
Have you made an official request for support?

I can relate to your frustration as I find the lack of polish and bugs in Tracktion to be off putting. It's like they never had the time to fully flesh out certain aspects as they had to move on to next thing. I may sound a little negative here, but I can see there is a lot of good unique things, but there is such lost potential.
On the DAW front I'm not too familiar with Bitwig and Presonus Studio One, I can recommend FLStudio as that is where I came from. FLStudio has quite a different workflow that is perhaps not to everyone's taste.

I never use racks on tracks, so maybe that's why I've never run into this. Ever.
I just wrapped Repro in a rack and still works perfectly.
What's in your rack in the video?

When you select your MIDI input device there are some timing options that you can try.
1. "Use MIDI Driver for MIDI Timing"
2. "Time Adjust"
It's worth a try. Also, here is an old article that might have some helpful clues:

#1 appears to resolve it. Good call. I just don't get it at all. You play notes in and they're in time, obviously coming through the MIDI driver. And yet somehow the recording messes them up. That being the case, if it has the potential to do this, why is it enabled by default? Thanks to all.pough wrote: Mon Sep 07, 2020 6:55 pm When you select your MIDI input device there are some timing options that you can try.

It's computer stuff interfacing with MIDI. It will 100% work on one person's setup and do mystifying bullshit on another. There are different standards, and changes within standards, and poor programming within all of those. Good thing they have a "work with my setup" toggle.fromwithin wrote: Mon Sep 07, 2020 7:38 pm #1 appears to resolve it. Good call. I just don't get it at all. I have the same problem, and i cant resolve, please help me
This is causing me a lot of problems, I need help
when I record the bass with the MODO BASS plugin, hitting the correct beat, when I finish recording, the notes get out of sync and are heard before I played them.
I play along perfect on beat and after hitting stop I watched the track move up exactly one beat.
The worst of all, is that if I put them correctly manually, later, when I export, again the bass is out of sync. Please help, I don't know what to do.

Just though I would add a link to the solution for the above request for help in case someone else finds this thread and needs help.
