is there a limitation on the free version that you can't multitrack record stems as wave files? I get an error each time I try. yet recording in flac seems to be fine?

I can't imagine that being a purposeful thing. Try recording fewer tracks at one time and see if it works. Maybe something is getting overloaded.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

I tried it with just recording one track at a time too and got the same error. is there any sort of easy to access error log?

Post

On the Settings tab, select "Maintenance" and there is a "Show the Log File" button.

Just a wild guess- are you on a 32 bit, or 64 bit system. I know there's size limitations between the two.

Wav files are far bigger than flac, so you short on HDD space?

I noticed that the error message said it can't "create" the files, as well.

thanks, here is the log, this shows all the events. i've highlighted the error but there is no type of error code attached to it?

i'm using 64 bit. I have a 64 bit OS. i'm not short on hd space, according to another daw I booted I still have days worth of recording space left on the drive. according to windows around 53 gig.

I wonder if it's an authorisation problem. Seems unlikely. But if so, running as administrator should fix it. Still odd though.
[W10-64, T5/6/7/W8/9/10/11/12/13, 32(to W8)&64 all, Spike],[W7-32, T5/6/7/W8, Gina16] everything underused.

I had this on a laptop with all my software when I renamed my user account. Windows 10 x64
I was forced to create a new user to align registry entries.
Don't know if this applies to your issue though. Try to choose a different folder on another drive and try again.

that fixed it. thanks.

another question I have, when recording wav files on the configuration window for recording it doesn't say whether it's recording at 44100 ,48000, or 96000 hz? or at least, I can't see where this is said for the clips I record. I can see a configuration for 16,24 or 32 bit, but for track recording is this specified somewhere else in the daw?

Post

Settings -> Audio Devices -> Sample rate

I believe it just records audio at the sample rate of the audio device.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

Post

booted it up again recently and I was getting the same problem even when running as admin. updated to the latest version, tried again and my avast antivirus flagged up something when I started to record. looks like antivirus is preventing it from recording files by default. bit weird, but looks like that could be the culprit.
