Release Velocity?!

I was just wondering how Mulab records the release velocity of my Midi keyboard, I mean, how can I make the per-note values show in the editor? I can select Velocity, Aftertouch or Pitchbend, but not release velocity.

Ah ok, but it seems to get registered and recorded by Mulab. So the data must already exist inside Mulab
Would make sense to be able to edit release velocity.
Until yesterday I hadn't even noticed my keyboard sends such signals in the first place

Ha, if poly AT was added, release velocity would be even easier to add I suspect, since it's just like another velocity lane

Yes, that's what I thought as well. And the RV value is probably produced by the same key sensor, just in the opposite direction. So each key is always sending alternating attack and release velocity values.EvilDragon wrote: Thu Sep 10, 2020 3:36 pm Ha, if poly AT was added, release velocity would be even easier to add I suspect, since it's just like another velocity lane![]()
In Sylenth1, RV seems to be automatically assigned to the same parameter as attack velocity, because there is no separate modulation source called RV. I have never seen that in any synth, I think.

It's almost globally ignored. Note On vel=0 for Note Off is so common that Note Off velocity is rarely worth implementing, I'd guess.

It's kind of a shame because in my view the way you release the key can make a big difference with certain sounds, for instance when emulating guitars. It is not less important than AT in my view.

Except when you have plugins that take advantage of it.pljones wrote: Thu Sep 10, 2020 4:38 pm It's almost globally ignored. Note On vel=0 for Note Off is so common that Note Off velocity is rarely worth implementing, I'd guess.

Do you know any synth that has a separate release velocity mod source?EvilDragon wrote: Thu Sep 10, 2020 6:39 pmExcept when you have plugins that take advantage of it.pljones wrote: Thu Sep 10, 2020 4:38 pm It's almost globally ignored. Kontakt, Falcon, Reaktor, Pianoteq supports it, a number of other synths too...

Oh, I don't have any of those.EvilDragon wrote: Thu Sep 10, 2020 10:41 pm Kontakt, Falcon, Reaktor, Pianoteq supports it, a number of other synths too...
And are there DAW's where one can edit the RV of recorded notes?

Reaper, and I assume Cubase for sure can. Digital Performer too.

It's right after the velocity lane in the MIDi editor (in the list of available lanes). Could do it for quite some time now.
