I'm looking for any 128*128 pixel icon for Tracktion to use with ObjectDock. It took me almost an hour to make a standard 32*32 one from scratch for eXT, so I'm not really in the mood to do another one today. Anybody got a decent one? I've already checked WinCustomize, and there's nothing there.

I made this one for y'z dock...

Thanks! Just out of curiosity, how'd you make it? I hope it's something other than a bicubic resize.

I took the a screenshot of the tracktion logo when loading.. dumped it in photoshop and masked it out.. saved it, then created an icon with this icon thingy (might have been IconSushi.. don't remember tho). :) It should look pretty nice in ObjectDock. Looks great in y'z dock!

I don't think I've ever noticed that big logo before. I'm always too busy looking at which VST is being loaded!

It really does look nice though. Now it looks like I'm gonna have to redo my eXT icon, now that it's the only one on my dock that is being upsized.

BTW, what's "y'z"?

Y'z was another OSX style dock. IMO, it was the closest thing to the OSX. Unfortunately, me thinks apple felt the same way... the author received a cease and desist order from Apple's enforcers... thus it's no longer available... but screw that, I still use it.

Here's what my dock looks like right now.

I tried out the icon you gave me, but something just didn't sit right with me. Probably the fact that I didn't make it.

Just (by chance) tested ObjectDock yesterday. :)

Any advantages of Y'z over ObejctDock?

(Both are free - but development of OD seems to continue...)

Thanks for input! :D

The fact that objectdock is still being developed gives it an advantage. But if you want a basic dock with file menu options for folders and what not, Y'z is great. Also there are dockletts out there for y'z as well.. if you like them time, temperature, etc type stuff updated on your dock.

Anyway, I think it captures the feel of OSX the best... kinda hard to explain. There are basically 3 docks that I recall... y'z, objectdock, and mobydock. Try them all and you'll see what I'm talking about. They all feel a little different in terms of their rxn to the mouse and how they scale things, etc.. and they have slightly diff implementations of features. Try 'em all, cos you might like the feel of the others.. also I've had y'z dock suddenly lose it's config (so I keep a backup of the .ini file just in case--tho this has only happened on rare occasion which I have not yet been able to pinpoint the cause).

Now that I think about it, those other docks might be light years ahead... I've been using Y'z for a long time and simply refuse to give it up. :nutter:

also.. ya'll might wanna try AveDesk - http://www.avedesk.com/

It's not a dock, but it lets you put pngs on your desktop as icons.. scalable, alpha blending, etc... along with loads of other gizmos. Pretty funky stuff.

ModuLR, thanks alot for your detailed information! I'll give the competitors a try - although I'm really impressed by the "look and feel" of ObjectDock! :o

Nevertheless - I'll go and discover that little & subtle differences...
