Thank you to everyone who took it seriously and participated.
Did anyone keep the final tally? Last I saw it was around 65% in favor of splitting the threads.

I don't understand your question? I didn't post anything about the poll, and I'm not sure what you're referring to by "flagged off"...Fidelity wrote: Tue Sep 15, 2020 12:54 amWhy would you repost it there instead of here after being flagged off? It was locked as of last night, after reading this I unlocked it but please keep it civil.
Also of course the no chat posts are history, no chat is no chat

That's not the same thread/poll as was originally made. There was a non-poll thread where people were asked to reply Yes or No. Over 60 people replied. I'm wondering what happened to that thread.

@Hink, as a site admin, would you be able to sticky the new preset packs thread? And can you suggest how we should inform preset vendors of the new thread?

Got successfully trolled by Aloysius and X-III. I called them out on their BS and thread got derailed. Then when the poll was over, done and dusted, WatchTheGuitar showed up to try and provoke a bit more... At that point the thread got (rightfully) deleted.Ceej wrote: Tue Sep 15, 2020 12:07 amWhy was the poll thread removed?quietzone wrote: Sat Sep 12, 2020 6:36 pm Poll regarding presets in the NO Chat thread done.

I set up the poll with the intention to run it as fairly as possible, and I appreciate those who took it serious and participated - sorry to those of you, that I got triggered by the trolls.
It's just not worth my time to pursue this further. Moved on already.
Didn't keep the final tally, deleted my copy when the thread got taken down. Was somewhere around 67% Yes, 18% No.

Can I suggest that the chat about the separate thread goes on in a separate thread? The one Hink linked to seems ideal. Or if not there, somebody could create a poll about my suggestion and we could discuss there.

I most certainly did. Let's talk about it more. It'll take my mind off the death and destruction outside.

All the useful discussion about this happened last week (most recently, anyway - it's come up a number of times in the past as well, which is the main reason to want to sort it out once and for all). All that remains is to figure out how to Sticky the new thread, and then announce it to the vendors and those KVR members that would be interested in subscribing.revvy wrote: Tue Sep 15, 2020 7:22 am Can I suggest that the chat about the separate thread goes on in a separate thread? I'm referring to the non-useful discusson, like this. And the discussion about when KVR became a referendum based direct democracy. I missed that memo.Ceej wrote: Tue Sep 15, 2020 7:40 amAll the useful discussion about this happened last week (most recently, anyway - it's come up a number of times in the past as well, which is the main reason to want to sort it out once and for all). I'm thinking I could be like the bookmen in Fahrenheit 451 but instead of remembering the text of entire books could wander the wastelands looking to pass on knowledge of how to set up a Jupiter-4 to play the mellow riff from Save A Prayer. That's all that's left now that the preset vendors have gone.quietzone wrote: Tue Sep 15, 2020 7:49 amWaiting for it to be done to sweep in?WatchTheGuitar wrote: Tue Sep 15, 2020 7:32 amIt'll take my mind off the death and destruction outside.![]()

Well... the very existence of the Bargain Center thread was based on the community deciding to create it. The decision to limit it to bargains only (NO CHAT) was decided by the community of users (and that decision was plenty contentious back in the day as well, but it seems like it's widely supported now). The creation of this discussion, gossip thread was done by the community of users. So I'd say there's a pretty long history of it being exactly that.revvy wrote: Tue Sep 15, 2020 7:47 amAnd the discussion about when KVR became a referendum based direct democracy. I missed that memo.
The moderators have supported this in the past. The moderators to this day support policing the NO CHAT forum to remove non-bargain posts - a position which, again, was based on community decision. So it seems like this is the accepted mechanism for effecting change in the KVR community.
Let me ask you this: If KVR policies are not created and debated by referendum, then what mechanism would you suggest? Of course, if Ben(KvR) or any of the site admins wanted to step in and say "This is our playground, here are the rules, play by them or go home", then that's clearly their right. Thus far that has not happened, however. I'm also unaware of any alternative mechanism to approach them with requests for change. If there is one, by all means, let me know.
Failing that, then as best we can tell, the community as a whole overwhelmingly supports the creation of a separate thread for preset vendor bargains. It's a shame the poll which primarily demonstrated this got overrun by trolls and deleted, but it was showing better than 3.5-to-1 support.
So, again, I ask: If not this, then what?

Start with fizzbuzz and we'll talk about remembering the text of entire books and passing on knowledge if that gets solvedWatchTheGuitar wrote: Tue Sep 15, 2020 7:56 amI'm thinking I could be like the bookmen in Fahrenheit 451 but instead of remembering the text of entire books could wander the wastelands looking to pass on knowledge of how to set up a Jupiter-4 to play the mellow riff from Save A Prayer. The end of synthesis as we know it.
