If I don't have a Roland Cloud account, can I just sign up for a free account and purchase lifetime keys for Zenology Pro and its Model Expansions? If so, what are the lifetime key prices?

I’m not sure what expansions you get with it or what the expansions cost or if you can even buy them separately, but Zenology Pro is currently $229 and I understand you get all the model expansions at the lowest RC subscription level ($3 pcm / $30 p.a.)SonicDimension wrote: Sat Sep 26, 2020 1:29 am If I don't have a Roland Cloud account, can I just sign up for a free account and purchase lifetime keys for Zenology Pro and its Model Expansions? I found lifetime key prices on this page for the model expansions and the various non-zen-core virtual instruments. The Model Expansions apparently cost $149 each (SH-101, JUPITER-8, JX8P, JUNO-106). Those are the same prices as the older ACB versions, which apparently sound better, but have a higher CPU hit. Hmm, maybe I should just stick with TAL and Diva.

$30 a year of the lowest level sub for 20 years equates to buying those model expansions outright.

Did Roland allow for Zen Pro to layer their synths now and make Multi-timbral Multis in Zen Pro?

I think that the model expansions are only available to Pro and Ultimate Roland Cloud subscribers (scroll down on the link I posted above). I think that these prices are rather absurd compared to the prices of comparable synths from Korg or TAL, for example.
I also see that Roland has released another Zen Core synth called ZC1 for their ZenBeats DAW. I guess that it has the same features as Zenology (non-pro version)? This synth apparently costs $50 to unlock on desktop, or $15 on iOS. I wonder whether ZC1 will also have model expansions or a pro version (ZC2 ?). It might be interesting to play around with that on a mobile device.

Ah sorry yes, I mistook Wave Expansions for Model Expansions. Yes, if you’re not particularly interested in anything else the subs have to offer then it is a pricy option.SonicDimension wrote: Sat Sep 26, 2020 2:07 am I think that the model expansions are only available to Pro and Ultimate Roland Cloud subscribers (scroll down on the link I posted above).

Dumb question here. I downloaded Roland Cloud Manager and "Zenology Pro is in my library". I installed it. I have no idea how to start it but Roland makes it sound like I can get a 30 day trial.

Hi Brian, thanks for the reply. I uninstalled zenbeats, but I will try it again.Brian.McClelland wrote: Fri Sep 25, 2020 8:57 pmHey, JamminFool! Sorry it's not loading for you. I think we have something for that. Let's take a look at the system and find out what's going on. Zenology Pro does not show up in ZenBeats. Scanned, but shows up in the list of rejected VSTs.
Showing up fine in Ableton Live 10. Not sure why this is not working.
Anyone else have this problem?

$229? That's pretty steep. I already thought the D-50 had too high of a price.

It's not cheap. OTOH, it's a decent agglomeration of the JV1080-series instruments and the analogues if you're not bothered about using the ACB versions. Personally, I think I could dump the sub, get this along with the other permanent keys I've got and just use those.
However, the UI isn't that great when you start delving into the JV1080-type sounds. It's barely much better than turning the UI off in Logic. They didn't go out of their way to make the envelope settings visually helpful. (EDIT: Just realised I made a mistake in heading straight into Pro edit mode - the visual editor is easier on the eyeballs.)
