Hard to say! ASIO is just a spec. At the end of the day, your signal should have the same characteristics (until it's processed, that is) no matter what your editor or drivers are. All they're doing is taking the zeros and ones and putting them into your 'puter.

What low-latency driver does Audition use, if not ASIO, for realtime recording?

Also, unless you're using Audition for recording (ie. you're using it as your editor), you won't need to worry about latency whatsoever.

From personal experience audition clashed with Tracktion, always making me closing Tracktion before opening audition.

Now I'm using NGwave and workflow is seemless.

Maybe there are other factors. :?

Uses MME/DirectX. I do multitrack recording and didn't even notice there is no ASIO until somebody pointed it out over on the Props forum... latency issue is only noticeable when using other apps as ReWire slaves.

Absolutely.

I think there must be, because I have never had any conflict using Audition as assigned audio editor launching from within Tracktion.

I have seen wavelab 3 for around 100$.

guys, Tracktion is a horrible audio editor. If it's audio editing was like Adobe Audition/Cool edit , Trakction would be the greatest software program ever devised.

for those who want a real nice free audio editor, check out http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

I think it's the best free one out there by far.

Way to revive a month-old thread just to recommend a software that's already been recommended earlier in this thread....

Last I heard, Tracktion never claimed to BE an audio editor at all, and Jules specifically stated that it's not meant to be so. Sheesh.

headquest -

does Audition offer vst effects editing like reaktor sessions or other vst effects? Thanks.

Post

ok headquest - I just grabbed the 30 day trial of Adobe Auditions. I think it's a big improvement on Cool Edit 2.0.

However, im noticing when I save VST reaktor effects over selected wav files it is just deleting the wavs to blanks. I would like to be able to rectifiy this.

It's pretty clear to me the combination of Adobe Audition + Tracktion is an unbeatable combo.

Hi Montana,

Sorry I don't have Reaktor, so I can't really comment.

I have experienced the thing where a destructive edit seems to pulverise a wav into oblivion. Usually you need to adjust the settings on the effect for a less drastic result! If you find a VST effect that genuinely seems not to work in Audition though, you could try asking over on one of the following forums, which are both quite alive with Audition users - I'm sure someone there will have Reaktor! -

Hope you enjoy your 30 day demo. If your like me, you'll be unable to live without Audition once the 30 days are up - you have been warned to start saving up now!

yes i fell into cool edit pro and right away adobe bought out, and i ended up buying a really cheap $40 red rover transport controller which I sold a few months later for $125 and picked up a used tascam us428 which i can now control the different track volume/pan mixers... Then i was like okay i'd better stop using impulse tracker / modplug because i didnt have enough control. So I looked around and lo and behold in #k-v-r irc chat someone told me to check out tracktion. I did and was sold. :)

Now im just waiting around for progress on ReViSiT which is impulse tracker in VSTI form :) :) in a few week's it'll have midi out support... This will be amazing.
