They probably would if the majority canceled the cloud service. It's all about supply and demand.
Everyone cancel your subscription ;)

I tested out the JV-1080 VST recently and loved it. The cloud system though? What a headache. Ended up buying a physical JV-1080 just to avoid having to use that system. Shame

Fantastic update and love the current subscription scheme as well : )

I totally love the Cloud Manager and the ideology behind it that I have to login once a week and tell Daddy that everything is OK. (which I will not as I will not subsribe or buy anything once my test period is over).

were the plugin versions ultimately abandoned in favor of a new Zenology system, if anyone knows? shame if Roland left things unfinished. I was still counting on JX-8P/10 with MKS module and JD-800/990. I'm reading I'm not the only one waiting for JD's.

Dip200 wrote: Tue Sep 29, 2020 11:12 pm I don't know bill45 but I think not. I have not yet installed any expansion tho. But the VA mode is more complex, you can bend the waveforms, you can use VA on all 4 partials, mix it with all pcm waves and you can select waves from all srx expansions and not just 4, there are more filter options and I think the basic sound is slightly better. The base sound is also different compared to the XV 5080 plugin. It's more weighty and creamy. Not drastically but clearly audible. (I used hofa blind test to not fool myself) I can't describe it with words properly.

But I found a couple of patches that sound very different to the XV 5080 plugin. For example 101 - Sitar. It's programed differently. The waveforms themselves sound the same.

But for example Koto A is not the same waveform in both units. Can you comment this Brian.McClelland ?
Hi, Dip200! Great question. Personally, I've never owned an XV-5080 module, so I couldn't say what the specific sonic differences are between the hardware and the Cloud version, but I love hearing your take on both. Talking with everyone in the forums has taught me a quite a bit about some of the sounds. Thanks for taking the time to compare! 😊😊

Brian.McClelland Thanks for your answer but I'm not sure you understand. Slight differences in filter behaviour, envelopes or how XV presets are programmed inside Zenology can be expected but the important bit is this:

The waveform aka recorded (Multi)Sample of "Koto A" is different than in the XV 5080. Which is weird and I wonder if this is a mistake. Afterall this waveform is inside the XV 5080 bank for Zenology. Maybe there are even more changed samples.

Big day for the 606 drum machine - a new plugin just dropped and on the hardware side there's also a boutique version and a new TR-6S

I am interesting in Zeenolgy Pro, to use it as a forced expensive editor/librarian for my MC-707.
I was hoping to get away with their "pro" subscription..

How does Zenology Pro behaves CPU wise on the computer? Is it a CPU hog like the rest of the Roland Cloud synths?

Could you like run four/five five instance of it in a DAW at the same time?

I found a great MIDI file someone had done of Vanishing Point by New Order last night, brought it into Live and assigned different Zenology Pro instances/sounds to 14 tracks. Barely used above 10% CPU (on a Ryzen 7 2700x). I think someone in this thread did say it can use high CPU with certain settings, but you’d have to check back as I haven’t seen any presets cause those issues.

Thank you. That is really good news .

Is there a VST2 version of the 606? I'm not finding it with the rest of the Roland Cloud plugs. The VST3 version is in the usual place.

Zenelogy Pro was VST3 if I remember correctly. I suspect they're just moving off of VST2 entirely and focusing on VST3 at this point.

I hope not.

BTW: I'm also having trouble getting the VST3 version of the 606 to show up in Ableton Live. It shows up in Cakewalk and Waveform (although it doesn't draw properly - a common problem in Waveform) but nothing in Live, even after forcing rescans. Anyone else?

One of my absolute biggest pet peeves with the whole Roland Cloud suite is:

1. Open a plugin GUI
2. Hit the Patch / Bank / Category button (depending on the plugin)
3. Now the plugin doesn't respond to Ableton Live's computer MIDI keyboard input, so you can't preview patches with the computer midi keyboard while you're in the exact window that allows you to surf presets & banks

It's really infuriating
