On even less serious note @Urs you can add vintage knob and more wood to RePro -5 and sell it for twice more, like they do.

I'm seeing some local guys here in SF did hardware clone of RePro-5. Super expensive, but still doesn't come with sonic conditioner and drench.

This means, SSI 2140 filter chips have become available in bulk numbers. I'm thrilled, both for Dave Smith who I like a lot, as for myself because I would like to look into this chip (e.g. a certain Cat has one, and I've been very afraid to break it).

Huge fan of Dave, but I’ll stick to Repro and my Prophet 6 module. This seems more for collectors, as I’m sure Uli will pop one out for $1200 soon.

But my point is Dave smith is cloning RePro-5: they have 2 different filters and 2 different envelopes. Things that OG never has but RePro has from the beginning.Urs wrote: Thu Oct 01, 2020 6:54 pm This means, SSI 2140 filter chips have become available in bulk numbers. I'll be honest though: I'm totally excited. I could really see myself picking one of these up.

But what is actual reason? What this P5/P10 would give you you don't have now?Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Thu Oct 01, 2020 10:08 pm I'll be honest though: I'm totally excited. I could really see myself picking one of these up.

No chance of aliasing for starters.
But also, Repro-5 doesn't cover Rev1/Rev2 Prophets.

Until Sequntial's digital envs and lfos have no issues like it was before
Anything important without hair splitting? But also, Repro-5 doesn't cover Rev1/Rev2 Prophets.
But from demos in GS thread I've heard nothing that P6/RP5 doesn't do. Also demos are noticeable mb compressed and equalized sometimes too much.
I hear difference between RP-5 filters and RP-6. P-6 sounds differently a bit, it has harshness I guess because of overdrive, filter gain and pair of HP/LP. I guess P-5 should sound with less harshness but is it really different, esp turning off HP and OD on P-6.

I don’t need it, but it’s an attractive product. It’s like why do I need a bunch of electric guitars...probably don’t but I enjoy having them.david.beholder wrote: Thu Oct 01, 2020 10:44 pmBut what is actual reason? Oh, that would be a bummer. I'd be happy to trade our envelope code though...david.beholder wrote: Thu Oct 01, 2020 11:05 pm Until Sequntial's digital envs and lfos have no issues like it was before![]()

Yeh that is unlikely. Even SSI2140 doesn't sound quite like the vintage SSM2040.
