Server issues are the worst. Some morons once decided to DDoS my server for the fun of it. Lasted almost a week before things got back to normal. I feel very bad for Uncle E.

Its not just payment information, but personal information (names, addresses, phones, etc) as well. Agree that he is a nice guy, but no way I'm ever buying from JRRShop again.

i am a customer of jrrshop since a long long time, uncle E have always been professiona and responsive, the technical problem they have are the 1 since i made my first buy.jrrshop is not a buggy shop.all these technical trouble will not make me stop me to purchase plugin from them.

Quite a bit actually - identity theft is a multi billion dollar shadow industry. Names, addresses, and emails are all cross referenced with other website break ins. Massive databases of stolen data are out there, and sold to various criminal and (as most security professionals believe), bad state actors as well. Identity theft is sometimes the tip of the iceberg.

As someone said a few posts ago, this is "the world we live in." That is 100% correct. However, we as customers can choose where we do business, and I will choose to do business with online shops that I believe take my personal information more seriously that JRRSHop. "Uncle E" certainly has his fans here, and for good reason. I don't purchase much, but all my interactions have been positive there. I will just choose to shop elsewhere now - fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. I feel bad for him, this is probably his livelihood, and my guess is that he is losing quite a bit of business. I certainly don't think less of anyone who chooses to remain his customer.

Odd, I never have much to say on KVR, as I'm a horrible musician. But I am in IT security professional by trade, so this is something that interests me.

Again, though, there's nothing you can do with a name, a address, and a email address. My address and name is written in the phone book. My email address is shared with gazillions of sites, and people I sent a email. There's nothing in the data on JRR Shop's site (which isn't even proven to be compromised) that anyone could do anything with.

Even if they have your password (which I highly doubt, because those are stored in the database encrypted), you couldn't do anything with it, unless you use it on other site's too. And, which sites BTW? Nobody knows which sites I browse. Even if I was that stupid that I use the same password everywhere, which I don't.

If anything, then this is harmful for Eric and his business.

In addition, by law, if there were any type of data breach (as his site was redirected, I would assume so), he is legally bound to disclose that to his customers. I'll be curious to see if that happens.

Basically, what you are saying is that all it's needed for identify theft is a email to someone.
