There is a 1 page write up in the December issue of GuitarPlayer magazine for any that's interested. If the article appears on the website I will post a link.

Thanks. I missed that when my copy came in the mail.

There's no new information here but the review is very positive. It's about time guitar player gave some exposure to Tracktion. It's nearly perfect for their audience.

I agree! I actually logged on to post this, and here someone's beat me to it. ;)

The review is by noted author and computer recording expert Craig Anderton, too, so it's not like it's just some hack who threw together a review. My understanding by the little tag in the upper left of the page is that this is a review that also appears in EQ magazine.

So is the review good or bad?

It doesn't say anything we don't already know. ;)

Para 1. introduces, says that some users love it, some find it too 'different'.

Para 2. enthuses about the ease of use and workflow, notably the lack of multiple windows. Mentions mixer-less environment and "filters".

Para 3. notes that there are features you wouldn't expect at this price, including automation, Auto-Tempo loops, the basic plug-ins included, and MIDI functionality. Strangely (or maybe not, it IS a guitar mag) no mention of Freeze or PDC.

Para 4. Summary: For $80, it competes with the majors' "lite" versions, and will do everything needed by most users "who are willing to think a bit outside the box."

Nothing cutting edge, and nothing too insightful, but it IS a positive review, and the space limitation probably had something to do with Anderton's inability to go TOO deeply into it.

Cool, thanks for the summary.

Mackie can use some of that in Tracktion ads: "Competes with the major's lite versions".
