We agree to agreeleeleema wrote: Thu Oct 15, 2020 7:04 pmI doubt anything PA do is a coincidence. I've certainly used the fact you outline a few times myself, my friend! I actually like PA's business model as it's really transparent. Also, they are clearly open to the second hand market and how they benefit from it.martinjuenke wrote: Thu Oct 15, 2020 6:51 pmJust a coincidence:
32$ is the amount of activating two second hand bought PA plugins...

Context is key, and if you say "Serum is better than Sektor, you can't resell Sektor" without mentioning that you also can't resell Serum, you're misinforming by omission.Vleker wrote: Thu Oct 15, 2020 12:13 pm (And regarding biscuitdough, yes it is chitchat but not misinformation. Indeed, serum is also not resellable. It is just something people might like to know before buying something. It might affect your decision to buy)

That's a very nice catch. I'll start looking for used PA plugins. $7 (after voucher) to transfer two isn't bad at all.martinjuenke wrote: Thu Oct 15, 2020 6:51 pm Just a coincidence:

Not a single company uses those figures though. Perhaps in the socialist republic of PlokistanPloki wrote: Thu Oct 15, 2020 8:16 pm or just do 4$ fixed license transfer fee and 29$ list prices like a normal person would

Most companies also don't use 299$ list prices and 29$ constant discounts.leeleema wrote: Thu Oct 15, 2020 8:26 pm

there are more expensive like DMG, FabFilter, U-he, Softube, but they retain their list price most of the time - and also their resale price.
Most have occasional sales, usually never more than 50%, not 95% off.
Also most don't charge for license transfers at all.
And most listed aren't registered in the socialist republic of Plokistan.
On the flip side, show me a single company that does 95% discounts and charges 20$ for license transfer that's not waves

Ha ha! Ploki, of course you're right about the high prices, they are ridiculous when the plug-ins are constantly on sale. But I'd sooner be able to buy at a cheap price and re-sell too, so I like them. Some companies, including some of the ones you mentioned, have high prices, poor sales and high transfer fees. So the only thing PA is getting wrong is their ludicrous RRP, which none of us here would pay anyway. The main thing for me is that some of their plugs are properly good and you can get them for a good price. On the same subject, the best business model I think is Valhalla's. So straight forward and they've stuck to it. No one feels like they're getting shafted. I always wonder what their annual profits are like, they must be millionaires Rodney!
