FR: Better Midi CC

In update 14.09 we got: "Added Toggle and Trigger options to MIDI controllers."
Thanks for this, its an improvement but still not there yet. Now it behaves exactly like controller button was set (in its editor) to be toggle. Doesnt behave like in other software, vst etc...
I already mentioned this months ago in some MSL thread but now I'll go more into detail so hopefully to explain how it can be better.
I'll make an example. Midi cc button, lets say any random number like 55, can send whole range of values (not to be confused with cc number, also Im not talking about after-touch) depending on pressure. Just like velocity, 0-127 I think. When its set to toggle in its editor it still sends pressure value but it will stay "on" on first press and "off" on next. Regardless of how hard it was pressed it will do on-off.
Lets mapp that button to MSL record function and lets use the new function to toggle. This is what happens: that cc55 will trigger record (toggle it to be exact) on/off only if pressure value was higher than halfway ie 65-127. Low pressure values wont do anything.
Expected behavior is that any value will turn record on or off. At least when toggle option is on.
(Ignore knob settings from this pic and mode "interval", I tried many many different combinations (of knobs, modes, trigger+toggle, toggle alone, trigger alone etc) and that didn't solve the issue) Here is a screenshot where that function works excellent but notes are used. Note mapping has "switch" option and I would like if CC has equivalent to it. For example, note with velocity of 3 (or any) will toggle recording (picture) on or off, no need to stomp hard on controller. Ideally similar option with same behavior would be best. Either new "switch" option or toggle that will react on any pressure value. In situation where we need toggle for a software button its not important that it only activates on hard press, dont think there is any use of it in that way.

Ok, so the problem is that it reacts only to values above 64?

Hmmm actually, trigger + toggle seems to do just that. Confused

Yes. Unlike note switch mode. So sensitive pad controller would have to be press harder when using CC. With notes it isnt a problem.MeldaProduction wrote: Sat Oct 17, 2020 10:35 am Ok, so the problem is that it reacts only to values above 64?
Here is a short video which demonstrates that only cc20 with value of 66 (in this demonstration was highest) will trigger recording. You can see step value it triggers in the video on the CCstepper gui on top right.
Sorry that it took me some time to find cc 20 in the video

Ok, but as I wrote in the next post - Trigger + Toggle does that, or what am I missing?

My bad, sorry. Seems that it does that. I tested before, also with CCstepper but didn't account that it still sends cc values of 0 on empty steps, which made trigger+toggle to freak out. Also text help about it (in MSL midi) wasn't helpful, I assumed it would send like stated minimum right after the original message and that's why that's happening, that confused me.
Whatever it does seems like when 1 message was sent (of any value) it does the job.
Sorry again, seems that issue is resolved.
