Dear Anyone.
Wanted to type in the names of the softwares I like for the Awards that are currently being voted for but the system won't let me. All it will let me do is search the database and choose from lists. Why can't I choose my own?
For instance, my fave. VST synths are the Korg Emulators but they're not even listed. Some Korg things are, but why I can't I just type in 'The Korg M1 Emulator'?
I'm using Mypal browser on Windows XP SP 3 if that's anything to do with it!
Yours puzzledly
Chris.

I just typed "M1" in the search box for the database, and Korg M1 came up top of the list.

What I discovered when trying to nominate Valhalla Supermassive for best free effect is that yes it has to be in the database and to be in the database it has to be put forward for nominations by the people who make the thing, so Valhalla didn't want to put SuperMassive forward as it was created as a sort of gift because of Covid. And that's why we can't vote for whatever we want.

Which database you're talking about? I thought it was the same database as usual, but as per WatchTheGuitar said it is a separate database. No idea why the M1 wasn't included!Spring Goose wrote: Sun Oct 18, 2020 5:56 pm I just typed "M1" in the search box for the database, and Korg M1 came up top of the list.

Dear Spring Goose and Watch The Guitar
Not sure if I'm going to use the right word here, but a bit coercive of KVR if they're forcing us to, in effect, 'big up' a manufacturer's products because we're not allowed to do anything else!
Yours a little crossly
Chris!

well I can understand them not wanting to parse a load of free text so it makes sense to confine choices to what’s in a database. What I don’t get is why they needed a separate database to the existing KVR one.ulrichburke wrote: Sun Oct 18, 2020 10:55 pm Dear Spring Goose and Watch The Guitar

Dear Watch the Guitar.
Easy. Advertising. If they get a bunch of KVR users 'bigging up' a product from a database list (like we have the choice to do anything else!) they can say 'Product X was voted for by TWO HUNDRED KVR MUSIC PRODUCERS!' (or however many, y'know!) and the manufacturer gets to use that fact on his website.
Of course it's only a fact because there wasn't the choice to do anything ELSE, but the general public aren't going to know that, are they! And if KVR were using their normal database, of course we'd have a much wider selection. They want to confine us to the people who've paid them to put their products in the special database, so us suckers - er, sorry, users! - have to vote for one or other of them.
Yours a tad cynically
Chris.

There aren't 2 databases, Valhalla Super Massive is not on the KVR database and can't be voted for, while Korg M1 is and can be voted for in all categories (didn't check every single one, but it seems so), except favorite developer.
Plus in Valhalla's own site it is spelled at least 2 different ways "Valhalla Super Massive" and "ValhallaSupermassive", making search harder (if it was in the database).

I stand corrected, I may just have seen a result from a forum entry. Maybe if effects or instruments had their own ‘official’ threads they could be voted for too?pottering wrote: Sun Oct 18, 2020 11:47 pm There aren't 2 databases, Valhalla Super Massive is not on the KVR database and can't be voted for, while Korg M1 is and can be voted for in all categories (didn't check every single one, but it seems so), except favorite developer.

It's all one database. The KVR Product Database. If it's in there you can vote for it. If it's not it can be added. Many developers have admin access for their brands. Some are more proactive than others. Sean has access but does not actively manage his product listings at KVR. I've just updated them and added ValhallaSupermassive and ValhallaSpaceModulator.

Ben, FYI - they specifically didn't want Valhalla Supermassive to be included in the awards.Ben [KVR] wrote: Mon Oct 19, 2020 11:08 am It's all one database. The KVR Product Database. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=545911&start=270Hi everyone. Sean and I have discussed this and we really don’t feel that putting Supermassive into a competition is in the spirit in which the plugin was conceived. Given that it was created as a special giveaway during a time of global crisis to help people feel creative and also offer them a useful tool when money might be tight, placing it into a “competition” just feels wrong. Perhaps that’s silly, but it’s the position we would like to maintain.

It seems that was the 'nominations' phase and now we're into the voting phase. Just went in and Supermassive is now showing.
I will hate myself if the bloody thing wins now because I know Sean doesn't want it in there.

Free products are only eligible in the last two free-specific categories anyway.

Yes, but all the nominations do is give use a top 5 in each section to give an idea of where the voting is going. You can still vote for anything else. If we limited the voting stage to just the top 5 people wouldn't be able to vote if they had never used any of those.Aren't the nominations finished now?
