So, I ended up buying the full fat version of Bazille and Zebra anyway, though I suspect Beatzille will still get some heavy usage too (thanks again mevla!)
So I'm now the proud owner of a fairly respectable U-HE collection; Zebra + ZebraHZ, Diva, Bazille, Repro, ACE, Uhbik and Colour Copy, as well as the freebies. I admit I'm still lusting after Presswerk and Satin (as well as the others, truth be told), but I'm told patience is a virtue.
Thanks again to those who responded to my original query, and thanks also to Urs and the whole U-HE team for making and releasing such stunningly good software!

If you own for example #144 from 12/17 of BEAT Magazine, you can head over to serialcenter.de and choose that issue from the dropdown menu and get a download link for a Linux version of BeatZille via Email. I never tested it though, I don't use Linux.
Don't know if there's something like that for ZebraCM.
