This post is a tiny bit of whinge, as well as taking a chance that someone might have some advice. Well, it'll be a lot of whinge, to be honest
I hate wires. I hate the ugliness of plastic and metal units. I hate lecci cables, all the different audio cables, the monitors, the thousands of different audio units that can stuff a room up, even if all that is to discover just ONE sound that makes a track, I hate it. I hate all the mics and clumsy boom stands, the ugly soundproofing and all these contrived things. I hate all this stuff that makes us feel we're in control of a spaceship, when we're not. I hate how any setup turns into a mess eventually, with wires everywhere ready to strangle you as your pen falls off a chair and you have to reach under the desk where you shoved all the mess of wires, where there are more lights flashing from devices, illuminating your face of despair as you inhale clumps of dust which have been stuck between even more wires, laying like snakes along the ground. I hate wires!! And all the nasty angles of racks, and relentless lights and buttons of machines... Machines, endless machines, that do this or that, improve that or this... I hate it all!
Or at least, I've come to hate it!
Sound production and creation? Too many wires. Too many machines.
