I had Surrealistic Pillow on vinyl as a kid and loved it, but never investigated much beyond that - I knew Jefferson Starship wasn't my jam. Today I listened to a few early things that are pretty great, can definitely big up their album "Volunteers" which was released when the Vietnam War was raging and they're angry about it. But, this was something that piqued my interest, a sci-fi concept album called "Blows Against The Empire" released by the Airplane's Paul Kantner as a supposed solo artist yet featuring a shitload of famous contributors and a number from the Airplane itself.

I wonder if George Lucas was a fan.
