I can. I did in the "landing" thread and apologies for being a bunch of pages in on this thread post-announcement but there was a lot going on on the official IK Forum about AmpliTube (and you can find the information I'm about to post and more there too). Anyway...

Per the Specs page your AmpliTube 4 gear will work in Amplitube 5. That means if you have AmpliTube 4 MAX you can upgrade to AmpliTube 5 and have all that gear working in AmpliTube 5.

There were some collections released after AmpliTube 4 MAX. If you are missing those and upgraded to AmpliTube 5 MAX at the pricing on our site and at http://www.ikmultimedia.com/news/, you'd be getting Fender Collection 2, AmpliTube SVX 2, AmpliTube Brian May, Dimebag Darrell CFH Collection, AmpliTube Joe Satriani, Fulltone Collection, and AmpliTube Leslie for about $/€43 a piece. Not to mention ALL of the new features in AmpliTube 5 (and they're amazing) PLUS the new gear in AmpliTube 5 (also amazing).

In the news and the AmpliTube 5 web page, we state the new gear and it seems that isn't clear based on some posts above so please check that out:
AmpliTube 5 takes a giant leap forward with 129 new gear models for a total of over 400 ultra-realistic models. Offering a massive increase in gear, features and flexibility for an even more seamless and satisfying user experience, AmpliTube 4 massively raises the bar of what can be expected from an amp simulator today.

Both existing and new users will enjoy an all-new GUI featuring an updated ergonomic layout and new level of realism. Also now fully scalable, it can conveniently adapt to any display size including the latest Retina displays.

We also revisited all of the original AmpliTube legacy gear, adding a fresh new look, optimized internal gain structure and superior power amp/speaker interaction to maximize realism and feel. Featuring 100 completely re-measured cabs, two new stomps, five new amps, a new cab, and two new room simulations, there is so much new sound to be explored.
Thanks for clarifying the upgrade options from Max 4 to Max 5 by sending us to your News site. But ok you listed off 7 items and said they would be 43$ per product. So it is $300 to upgrade 4 to 5 Max. Brutal. I don't think so.

Thanks Peter - so if I already own v4 Max and purchase v5 standard (not Max), and I already own all the gear packs available for v4 (which also work in v5), I then own the equivalent of v5 Max? The confusion comes since there's no upgrade path for v4 Max users short of repurchasing that which is already owned in the v5 Max package. Put another way, is there anything in V5 Max different than v4 Max, except the gear packs?

I have lost interest already now I know the upgrade from 4 MAX to 5 Max is 350E, you can buy HELIX for less than that...he’ll, you can buy a valve amp for less than that!

Guys, if you already own Amplitube MAX, then you can just upgrade to the regular Amplitube 5 version for 149USD/EUR. Your "gear" will transfer to the new version, just like it did between A3 and A4.

Peter has already made this clear on multiple websites, including this one.

The $300 cross-grade is best for peeps who own other IK products (like T-Racks) but don't own ANY Amplitube.

So, if you're happy using A4 for a little longer (like me) then just wait until it's on sale for half price ($79, as with Amplitube 4) and then use Jam points to bring it down to fifty-something. Cool.

So essentially there is no benefit whatsoever being a MAX 4 user, no reward for having the last NAX version, no incremental upgrade, just the same deal as a new user. Its not like an NI Ultimate to Ultimate upgrade.

Seems like an odd way to do business not reward existing MAX customers (many like me who bought MAX this year) I can’t see many existing MAX users upgrading, but lots of new user MAX users getting a good deal which seems wrong to me.

It's very strange indeed. On the one hand of course it's not like we lose our gear if we get the regular amplitube 5. But I can't believe it is the same upgrade cost for someone to 5 MAX who does not own MAX 4, or any of the products for that matter. That is a bit of a kick in the teeth and very unusual.

Was there a lower cost upgrade from Total Studio to Total Studio 2?

I guess Total Studio 3 is just around the corner (as 2 doesn't have Mixbox or Amplitube 5) so maybe there will be better value in just upgrading to that...who knows with IK!

Fortunately IK are famous for 2 things, OTT marketing and regular extensive sales (recently 70-80-% off) so the pricing is really just a bit of a place holder for the slashed sale prices that happen very regularly...

ah, but the valve amp wont say "no sorry, you dont have the right pack for that" each time you turn a knob, so youre missing the full experience of amplitube!

Definitely disappointing, and herein lies the problem I've had with IKM for awhile: complete lack of loyalty towards those who have purchased in the past. Despite having total studio max 2, there is no upgrade pricing (same intro for everyone new/old) and the only option that will likely benefit me now (aside from the free version) is amp 5 max. I really enjoy your plugins, but the business choices are less than ideal. I understand its cheaper than me buying the expansions individually, but don't you see that people who have yet to invest anything in AmpliTube are to benefit exponentially more. Just makes no sense. I'm better off waiting till total studio 3 to upgrade than to buy amp 5 and have to try to sell it later (which im far too familiar dealing with when I chose to upgrade to total studio max 2). Rant over.
This is exactly how I feel as an existing AT4 Max user. I'll wait for sale

What do people think of the Axe I/O? If I’m buying A5 Max as a new user, is it worth the extra $100 to get the interface too? I mean, I already have several interfaces, including a MOTU 828es and a Helix Floor, so it isn’t like I need it. But if I’m spending the money on Max anyway, I’m wondering if it’s a good interface and worth spending a bit more.

I had this conversation just after ST3 came out.
One version of ST3 was $99
The next one up was $149

I asked the question that if I bought the $99 one, then wanted to upgrade, what would the price be, I was told the price would be $149.

There was no upgrade path, there is only crossgrade or full pricing. So I didn't update ST3 to the next version and they lost the sale.

$50 would have been nice, I might have gone for $75, whic would have been reasonable, but no way would I pay $149 for just more content having already bought the engine.

Back to Amplitude, this is a way more interesting and bigger update than from 3 to 4. I'm excited by it. I will wait until the the version I want is the price I'm willing to pay as opposed to buying what I can afford and upgrading later.

AT5 UI looks amazing!
1. What does "Legacy models reworked" mean for Fender 1 and that horrible Mutron III?
2. Is there a Ring Mod?
