Urs wrote: Fri Oct 23, 2020 12:47 pmThere are 104 open tickets which need attention. Many of these should be pretty minor, some are in the category of "good to have", but some actually require some serious development and planning.

I think what I'm saying is, I'm trying to figure that out myself. After working with the development version I wasn't expecting the need for much change - it worked flawlessly after all -, but I guess some things have piled up over the past few months.
So this week was loads of "putting heads together". In the wake of a new partial lockdown in Germany and a few nerving inconveniences, we think it would be best to do a very conservative estimate. For instance, we only have 1 of the new Apple kits, and it'll probably take a month of posting it around to the people who need it. Releasing Hive 2.1 without support for new Arm based Macs does not seem like a good idea to us, because it would slow these updates down for everything else. We're kind of in the middle of upgrading our infrastructure anyway (and more modern compilers & faster code for Windows as well, yay!)

There is certainly a good chance that we'll have some kind of beta/preview of Hive 2.1 in December, provided everything runs well (e.g. no-one catches that stupid virus). But with sound design and the usual bunch of surprises, and generally trying to avoid an update shortly before x-mas vacations this year, we have pretty much agreed to set a release date mid/end of January and that'll be totally fixed.

Woohoo. It's always nice to have something to look forward to, but even more so with the threat of further lockdown measures and a no deal Brexit heading our way in the UK.
Always Read the Manual!

Are you considering different unison modes for the oscillators?

There's a plan/idea/concept for that, but it's not part of this update.

This update is based on feature requests for a larger project that we still can't talk about (NDA) and which due to the pandemic probably gets delayed even further, maybe well into 2022. We originally wanted to wait for this project to surface, but as people get impatient about it, we decided to work on a release before that, even if we have to keep the reasoning behind things hidden.

Don't rush it. I'm okay if it's released next friday :hihi:
Seriously though, thanks for the answer. I guess people are a bit impatient because you're one of the greatest companies in the business, and we just want moooore 8)
Thanks for all your hard work and your wonderful products.

Thank you.

Thing is, I'm very eager to work on these things, and I can't wait to get them out. But reality is, we've become a bit more "pro" and organised, and there's a lot of day to day business that's just part of it. Hence I'm pretty much as frustrated as anyone else about the perceived "slowness" of progress, but then we make such great progress in so many areas that don't get noticed easily.
