that owner guy is such a dick. i remember him from years ago when i was mainly into vintage guitar equipment.....he would never go down even if that crap sat there for years. i remember he would have stuff that was used and charging more than guitar center had it for new.....and guitar center was right across the street!!!

After hearing the samples, i dont think so. I also have it on good authority from someone that knows, its a basically a bag of shite, especially for the moneysicklecell666 wrote:![]()
Better grab it quick!
If i had £300 i would get a Roland Octapd and use it to trigger decent sounds from my PC.

hi
i have one of these, i was really excited to get it, the sound isn't desperately inspiring but it is quite pretty to look at.. like a lot of vintage gear i guess. to be honest, unless it's unique sounding, or interestingly glitchy, or goes conveniently in a rack to be forgotten about but impress people who think you really do need that kit to get that sound, old stuff like this is heading straight for the cupboard the moment the thrill of *owning* it wears off. i'd love to have a look at the rack bits that go with it though.... can't... stop... buuying.... old... kit... where was the shop?

Funny, I was just hitting (shopping that is) pawnshops on Westheimer on Friday. I think I saw that ESQ-1 you were talking about. I also saw a VFX-SD. If it would have been an SD-1 I would have been forced to buy it. I also visited another shop that had like at least seven ASR-10s. All over priced of course. They were asking like 1500.00 for a Kurzweil K2000.
I was wondering who buys this stuff? You would have to be crazy to pay this much for old non warrantied gear when you could go for software, buy if off ebay or get something new for not much more. How do these guys stay in business? Must not be the music gear. Oh yeah, what's up Houstonians!!!! Nice to see some local folks here. We should do like the folks across the pond and get together sometime. I'll buy the first round of drinks!!
One more thing, I did see a really nice MPC-60. Looked brand new.

I travelled to Cambridge and bought one of these brand new in 1985, from one of the original owners, when the company went bust and was selling stock off. I also purchased the stage pads kit with it.
It was all very basic but provided some interesting sounds for on stage and a handy little programmable unit for home studio work. There was some notoriety for the unit when some big names used its elements for sampling: Depeche mode and Kraftwerk I believe were mentioned (not sure how reliant they were upon them though)
Sold mine about 10 years ago when clearing out the attic for about $50 (pads, MPC 1 leads and all ) 100% mint also, I'm sure its probably worth more today to collectors, (don't expect anything from the unit that any cheap programmable unit couldn't offer today though. Happy memories of adding a cheap electronic addition to a stage set up in the 80's at a time when it was all pretty new! A pretty easy unit to use and set up without too much info or knowledge!
