It looks like if you just bought artist packs/discreet gear from CS you wont be able to use them in CS5 so you will always be stuck with CS4 and people will only be able to sell packs to be used with CS4 (assuming IK continue to support it!)

I assume all of the CS stuff will now have to be bought from CS5 as its now built in to AT....basically everything is 'the shop' with different levels of gear/access.
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Makes sense. I mean XP users hold on forever too. Windows 7 but time marches on. Update or be happy with old stuff.

It is my understanding that whatever gear you own will be able to be used in CS 5, but won’t have new cabinets etc. I’m pretty sure Peter has said this but nothing has been confirmed about CS 5 yet. Why would you think otherwise though?

According to the IK website (https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/amplitube5/) CS doesn't unlock previously purchased gear...so it looks like you will have to pay €121.99 to use your purchased CS gear in a GUI that resizes...

Yeah I saw that but then Peter said you could use owned products in CS different so I don’t know if unlocking in SE was meant to imply that you couldn’t use CS. I mean is owning fender 1 collection a different license if you buy it after A5 is released? If you were to buy that single pacakage, you’d use it as in CS 5 once its released right? So how would they distinguish between a fender 1 collection bought earlier and one bought after CS 5 is released? Maybe they will treat them as different products but that seems like it would really complicate things even more.

AmpliTube 5 CS will load your previously purchased models (of course and thankfully). It just won't give you access to the new features or upgraded cabinets with VIR™ technology, so sonically it won't be the same upgrade as with SE or higher.
I've been following this thread and threads at other forums and it's yet another IK confusathon. With more confusion than clarity more questions than solid answers. Oh well I've come to expect nothing more from IK.

CS is the same AT4 soundengine with the AT5 browser and AT5 UI. When you go from CS to SE the sound is supposed to improve due to the new Power Amp and Cab code You can load the same expansion like Orange or Mesa inside AT3 and the AT4 to hear a sonic difference. Same concept with AT5 CS.

I think CS is AT4, just with an improved GUI. AT4 and AT5 CS most likely have different VSTID so you should still be able to use AT4 if you like.

Apparently this might not be true. We need to now wait for CS to get released and for some people with AT 4 collections to confirm that upgrading to AT 5 SE does in fact allow you to use those collections that you own in A5. It's all looking like you need to get at least AT5 to get the upgraded sounds of those AT 4 collections in AT5 otherwise what it is is they just open up and sound the same as AT 4 just a new GUI and interface. Its all very werid.

What I find more weird is what I said above - if you buy the orange collection after CS 5 is released because you only want the orange amps, I assume they must be used in CS, so do they sound different then if you own AT5 and load orange amps in that? Wouldn’t you expect that a product you buy today on its own would have the most up to date features (most recent cabs)?

I think all the amps will be updated in all versions of AmpliTube 5. AmpliTube 5 SE and above will unlock the VIR engine.

The question, I think, is whether the cabs+mics in AT5 CS will be exactly the same as AT4, or if they will at least be using a subset of the new impulses from AT5, (just fewer impulses and/or no VIR processing.) I think this is more or less how it will be, otherwise AT5 would be unnecessarily large and there would be no continuity in sound going from AT5 CS to SE and above.

I would agree that would make sense, except that we have already heard from peter that CS will not have the new cabs and power amp improvements for existing gear. Meaning that if you buy a single product it will sound different in CS than in SE. Unless they have distinct V5 licenses of every product after 5 is released.

There is a new AT 5 demo promo video out. In it, the dude clicked a button which switches the screen in the GUI and the VIR screen shows up. Some of us suspect that's what is crippled in CS. That button only works if you have SE or above. We have to wait to see what CS is when it gets released.

CS stands for Custom Shop. How could the the collections not be accessible? Most collections are accessible in AT3 and AT4 which are unique VSTIDs. AT5 SE looks to follow the same model.

Yeah I already assume that won't be available and of course that would be reasonable. CS is free after all. But having different cab versions in CS for products you own than are in SE and above necessarily means that purchasing a single product (after this release) will sound different depending on what you load it in. That would be a bit odd.

And it definitely could not be true that you need SE to load an individual product, because then if you went and paid 99 bucks for Fender 1 collection, you would not be able to use it and you'd have to go and buy SE? I doubt that. Or they would force you to use the old A4? Doubt that too.
