Guess we share a similar taste. I'm "affraid" these 80s/90s multi effect algorithms are out of fashion. Software developers are capable but perhaps thinking there's no market as we speak b/c glitchy stutter etc. stuff is en vogue?

I just make my own FX racks in Live, it's super easy and let's me use discrete, high quality plugins as the components. My chosen controls and macros renamed and colored as I like automatically mapping to a MIDI controller... and all the indepth options of the plugins still accessible with a click. It's just awesome, and I guess most DAWs have a similar functionality these days, making multi-FX plugins pretty much obsolete.

Gladly. Back then in the 90s the intensive Usage of FX was much more popular than today. Take Cher´s AutoTune for Example. I remember Electro Tunes that were FXed all over - and the Radio was full of "special FX" that were new to the most People back then - and that is different today (despite of certain Styles maybe). Fireworx itself surely works today - but the Marketing has been adopted a little bit. I saw the Video yesterday and thought it would be a different Unit.

Concerning your Search: I´m probably not the right one to give Recommendations on that Topic. But what you are looking for are "Time Savers" for demanding Purposes if I´m not wrong - and I´d guess that you should better look on the HW Market. Software is usually made by Developers ... and a really good sounding Multieffect Unit like the ones that you have mentioned will probably make use of some more or less hidden Magic (Multiband, Tilt, ...) that we know from other HWs, too.

Guys! Do you even read OPs posts? His looking specifically for time based spatial MFX algorithms like legendary hw units have from the 80s/90s. So far: Excalibur and Reflex make sense.

I think that it’s maybe not that useful to look for a “multi effects plugin” to run in your DAW. I mean, think about what a box like the H series Eventide are. Computers that are running an operating system that then runs algorithms for each effect. So, picking individual plugins for their strengths makes more sense. I just found out that by using the included Bitwig delay, I can host other plugins inside the delay loop. So I made a chain that had D16’s Decimort 2, then Bitwig’s Delay 2. Inside the loop of Delay 2, I put another instance of Decimort 2 and then an instance of The Drop. Then a vintage limiter from IK Multimedia after Delay 2. Delay two doesn’t have any of it’s own built-in modulation, so I used Bitwig’s modulation system to give LFOs to the delay times. I’m planning on adding a step sequencer so I can sequence out bit depth in Redoptor as well. I also enabled The Drop’s envelope follower. When I started out, I was looking to create my own virtual OTO BIM, but by the end I had something that was a lot more. I don’t know if your DAW has similar types of functionality, but it is one of the things I love about Bitwig.

Here’s some other stuff that I love...

MXXX is excellent and you can either wait for their sale or buy it plugin by plugin over time.

I think the Oligarc plugin bundle by Stillwell is still one of the better plugins for analog style modulation emulation.

Uhbik bundle is great and I’m sure v2 will be even better. Look into the old U-He plugins too, like MFM and Filterscape.

PSP’s N2O is great, though the UI is a bit tiny. (Not to all UI designers: there’s no need to emulate an LCD display when you’re being displayed on an LCD display.)

Of course all the Valhalla plugins are amazing. No multi effects versions. The 2CAudio reverbs are another of my favorites.

Guitar Rig, while sounding kind of terrible for guitar amp emulation, IMO, is a great modular multi effects.

Pulsar Echorec is hands down one of my favorite analog delay emulations. IK’s Tape Delay is a close second.

One other thing I recently did was to pick up a UAD FireWire 8 Quad audio interface. I use it to run Lexicon vintage emulations and analog compressors and various distortion and saturation emulations, like the Culture Vulture and OTO Biscuit. It’s a great way to have plugin style interfaces while being able to keep my CPU cool.

Erm, look into reaktor by n.i, you can download a ton of fx, synths for it, for free if you decide to go that route, so many hidden and not so hidden gems in the online user library. Plus you can go under the hood and brew your own monstrosities.

On a similar note is cherry audios voltage modular, there is usually a free version called ignite to get started, but you can get the Psp full pack really cheap in sales, think I payed £39 for mine, has the modules from n20 and a few other goodies too. But as it’s a modular type synth plugin you have to roll your own fx chains, as there are only a few fx presets for it.

Psychic modulation vectomelt is worth a look too, multifx with a warpey, drifty 80’s vibe. Something similar In the 80’s vibe way is sonic charge permut8, just more expanded with different firmwares to install, echobode is worth checking too by them. Reverbarate 3 is great for multi fx with the right impulse responses, has great editing too for a convolution verb and sounds amazing.

ABSOLUTELY look at Triad by Unfiltered Audio (at plugin alliance). The thing is a beast of high quality fx and includes multiband and parallel processing.

If nothing else, this thread reminds me I need to start trying out guitar rig more often. I forgot I even had it.

Reaktor also. I reckon there's some crazy stuff I'm overlooking in that world.

Same goes for Logic's phat fx and step fx, which were originally from Camel. I always forget they got added in to the stable.

I just got Output Portal. While it doesn't compare to other multi-effect plugins, you might want to check it out.
