I think I meant to say, there is no built in way to do it (except modmatrix). So in modmatrix use source "Midi Note", Destination "Osc 1 Pitch Exp" and experiment around with the amount. You can go higher than 100% by using multiple modulation slots.YoddYarmonics wrote: Wed Nov 04, 2020 11:43 amHow do I access the built in way to do it?TheWaveWarden wrote: Tue Oct 27, 2020 4:16 pmThere's built in way to do it. What you proposed will probably work with some value. Its probably not 100, you'll have to figure it out. Also use Osc Pitch Exponential, not Linear as the destination!YoddYarmonics wrote: Tue Oct 27, 2020 9:10 am cant be bothered with more scrolling. so quick question: how does one turn off keytrackin? -100 note value modulation for each osc?

You might be in luck after all. The team behind Surge has an open-source library which makes this rather easy to implement

I'm more of a well tempered guy myself, so I am happy for any annotations / caveats which might not be ovious at first sight.
No guarantees yet that this will be a thing or when

Thank you very much.
A simple loading of scl or tun files and saving tuning settings per patch would be quite enough, no need to get crazier. Obviously, adding the ability to edit tuning file inside the plugin would be awesome, but I imagine adding this kind of thing would be a lot of work and you can do this sort of thing externally if you really need it.

Would you expect the tuning to be saved into a patch? I thought about two separate datasets, where you can swap out presets without affecting the tuning. The tuning would be unique to each plugin instance.crickey13 wrote: Thu Nov 05, 2020 1:14 pm A simple loading of scl or tun files and saving tuning settings per patch would be quite enough
But then again I've never used this stuff before.

That's precisely the way it functions in Surge, you can save tuning settings per patch. I'm not sure about the exact way it works there under the hood, maybe there is something I'm missing here. Perhaps you could hit the SST up and ask them about it. But the method you've described would be quite adequate too I imagine. If tuning settings are unique to each plugin instance and the plugin stores tuning settings after reloading the DAW project, then it doesn't really make that much of a difference in the end I guess. Saving tuning settings per patch would be nice though, ngl.
Maybe there is an easy, quick way to implement this, I have no idea. If it means a lot more work, then you can implement the way you've described. It's not ideal, but it's enough I suppose.

Haha, it was the Surge maintainer (Paul's) idea to put the scaling into Odin. Great people over at the Surge team. They pulled the K35 and DiodeLadder filters from Odin, I am right now adjusting their Reverb2 module to work in Odin.crickey13 wrote: Thu Nov 05, 2020 3:57 pm That's precisely the way it functions in Surge, you can save tuning settings per patch. Open source at its best... Love it if it accelerates like that...TheWaveWarden wrote: Thu Nov 05, 2020 5:55 pm Haha, it was the Surge maintainer (Paul's) idea to put the scaling into Odin. Did you discover the factory soundbank already? If not so, check this post.
Other than that you can find a couple of preset banks on youtube. I remember an 80s themed one which sounded quite nice!

odin is a great synth. i have a rule about minimizing the freeware usage , but this one made me think that over again ...

So it's open source. How does that work exactly, anyone can modify it?
If so, is this for themselves or everyone, I'm not quite sure exactly what it entails if anyone can elaborate on what open source exactly means in terms of a vst synth? thanks.

It means the source code is open to anyone. Due to the licensing, you could, for example, just grab the formant filter from Odin from here and implement it in your own free open source synth. Or you could add your own stuff to Odin and release a different version of it, as long as it's free and open source as wellEclectrophonic wrote: Wed Jan 20, 2021 1:47 am So it's open source. For example, we (and by "we", I mean the other members of the Surge Synth Team) implemented some filters from Odin in Surge, which is free and open source as well (we modified them quite a bit, though, if I remember correctly).
