The downer with UVI products for me has been the clunky preset menu and lack of save options (at least in the free UVI Workstation). I have found it a pain to navigate and locate what I need when I need it and that has turned me right off using it and instead I opt for plugins I can 'trust' where the work Ive poured into them saving and lining up my presets will show and deliver by folder/type/how I need it.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Thu Nov 05, 2020 6:12 pmralfrobert wrote: Thu Nov 05, 2020 6:12 pmAsk them, yes.agharta wrote: Thu Nov 05, 2020 6:06 pmThe language is vague but might just mean that you can’t sell the base license by itself but you can still sell it with the upgrade?LoveEnigma18 wrote: Thu Nov 05, 2020 5:30 pm
As per this link, it seems that UVI does not allow license transfers of upgraded products. So, if I were to upgrade to SA 3, I cannot resell SA 2/ SA 3. Can anyone confirm if this understanding is correct?
Best to ask them.
Just out of interest: I have no UVI products at all at the moment. If you have the prior version ... do you expect to be unhappy with the update? Or do you just ask to be sure you can sell it for whatever reason? How about UVI happiness in general?
Yeah, thanks guys. I sent them a request a while ago. Will post here once I get it clarified.
The reason to clarify is because I had a few UVI soundbanks which I was not really using and sold them recently. Since there is an iLok fee involved and I may need to transfer anything at any point, I try to avoid a situation where license cannot be transferred at all.
It's not that their product is not good or I am unhappy. It's just for the peace of mind. And in general, I think twice these days before purchasing anything that's iLok based - only because of the high license transfer fee.
UVI products sound great and their support is decent too, but for some reasons I am not much into their products. Synth Anthology 2 is the only thing I own from them. Well, there's Tines Anthology and Digital Synsations as well, but got them for free.

In Falcon you can set up a favourites folder to save presets to, but yeah it does lack an Arturia style tagging system

Same thought, but unfortunately, don't think they do. AudioDeluxe is their authorized retailer and they don't seem to have the upgrade (right now).SHall1000 wrote: Thu Nov 05, 2020 6:45 pm Do 3rd party sellers sell the upgrade? 49 seems high when the full product is 99.
For $49, you basically get 1000 more presets, which is not bad, but who needs more presets now! There's nothing else that's making me consider the upgrade. GUI looks more or less the same. Will most probably skip it.

One thing I always enjoy is the trailer music of UVI products. Louis Couka is an incredible guy!
Is it a 7/8 time signature on this one?

Its actually 4/4 but has swing and dotted arpeggiated notes, also contributing to the confusion is the tempo changes between each of the 3 sections.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Thu Nov 05, 2020 7:13 pm One thing I always enjoy is the trailer music of UVI products. Louis Couka is an incredible guy!

Just another word on preset management, this is something I definitely find varies enormously between products/developers and is underdeveloped/underrated in importance in my opinion. Each has their own system and most of the time has real shortcomings on a case per case: Some synths have character length limitations which is super annoying if you're like me and prefer to describe your presets as say LEAD Super Liquid Runs but end up needing to abbreviate LD SPR LIQUID.
Others have an issue that once you name the preset you cant rename them - going into the folder structure to manually rename doesnt update within the plugin so you're stuck with that name, really annoying. This happens with Toontrack Superior Drummer 3, where I can rename in Explorer Folder location in order to rearrange the order of the drop down presets for that sound bank (so I can have my favourites from top to bottom) but in the software it reorders but doesnt update naming. Sure workarounds exist like deleting and resaving but its just a weird often present anomaly that always seems to be there with presets. Literally when I am trialing new software that is heavily preset dependant (and user preset dependant at that) its something of a make or break for me. So the point is, with UVI Im unlikely to use their stuff purely based on difficult access to presets I favourite and want to slightly change.
I never used to care but have found myself focusing on different degrees of importance in my workflow over the last few years, largely fuelled by the trialing, buying and selling of so much software thanks to KVR (Am I really thanking my drug dealer?)..

Good point. Preset management being very different for every single developer means I just write down my favourite presets for later recall, for example if I'm testing out a new synth. Saving presets, I obviously have to go with what the manufacturer prescribes; but some of them have far less than seamless functionality. It seems as if it's a total after-thought with some developersInsanelysane wrote: Thu Nov 05, 2020 8:06 pmJust another word on preset management ...LoveEnigma18 wrote: Thu Nov 05, 2020 7:13 pm One thing I always enjoy is the trailer music of UVI products. I am very happy and I won quite a few of their products. I am not a sound designer or a synth expert, but I play with Falcon quite a bit and find it deep, complex but effective and I love the sound. Their world instruments library is par with any other high quality set of ethnic instruments out there, their synth emulations are just as good as my Arturia collection, and I love both. In general, and without being an extreme expert in keyboards/synth (I'm a strings player) I really, really like UVI products.

Thanks for sharing, that was hilarious. Getting WA Productions to remake a very basic set of Ableton effects rack macros, largely simple EQ settings, as a plugin is perfectly legal, but very shitty.deejay2 wrote: Thu Nov 05, 2020 9:54 pm KSHMR Essentials was 99usd intro offer exclusively only through splice but now is 39.96usd at kshmr website

Thanks for the info. As I regularly use ethnic stuff and don't have a full solution yet, I will look into this. Which ones apart from Uvi can you recommend?escalona wrote: Thu Nov 05, 2020 10:19 pmI am very happy and I won quite a few of their products. It installs the 64 bit version into the 32 bit vst folder. Even after moving them to the correct folder, they still don't work. I would pass on this one folks.paolostylo wrote: Thu Nov 05, 2020 12:33 pmWatchTheGuitar wrote: Thu Nov 05, 2020 12:30 pmActually I misremembered. There was a question if it was 64 bit and had a resizable gui and the no answer was in relation to the gui, but they said there is a 64 bit version. Maybe the 32 bit installer also installs the 64 bit version of the plugin?riley4reason wrote: Thu Nov 05, 2020 12:28 pmWell, someone needs to tell pluginboutique.com if you click on the link you can see they have it listed as 64 and 32 bit. It didn't come with 64 bit installers though, I asked their support folks about it 2 days ago. Did anyone else buy it? I'm on Windows 10. Thanks! Riley

I'm also interested in purchasing it for that price.
But before I will ask directly at Sonivox support if there is a 64bit-version...
