The most "revolutionary" plugins of the last 5 years?

Well, I'd say granular synthesis. it's not really only five years old, but it's much more common now. And it's an important concept as it makes music come alive much more.
What else? Portal by Output perhaps. It's actually granular too
, but as an fx unit. Check out the demo video, that is super cool in itself. I'd prefer it to be less expensive, but at PluginBoutique it's now 100 euros, so it seems to have come down a bit. (Plus you'll get the light edition of Ozone 9 as a freebie - and Ozone has marched well during these five years!)

Note that Zynaptiq Intensity is 60 % off at PB now. Still expensive though.

I would say Orb Composer / Producer - if it wasn't so bugged and unpolished. The first one worked for me, but the latter really doesn't - and I consider refund for the first time in my life.
So, I vote Gullfoss. Does the job, and makes it quick!
However, splitting audio into vocal, drums and others in iZotope Ozone is just a holy grail of music producers, especially something hobby remixers were asking for. There's also Spleeter app that does it for free.
What a time to be alive!

I agree, evolutionary stuff.
Bitwig has probably had the most innovation in a single program in the last 5 years.
Maybe expert sleepers hardware/software connecting CV to Computers?
What were the revolutions irrespective of time? Cubase VST and Ableton? Melodyne?

X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

I disagree (not my downvote though). OK, so perhaps not like the introduction of the VST standard (Steinberg) or the manipulation of audio (Celemony and more), but still: granular synthesis has vastly expanded on the sound of synthesizers. To me, it's the biggest revolution in synth sound since the 1980s.AnX wrote: Sun Nov 08, 2020 8:21 am there has definitely been nothing "revolutionary" in the last 5 years, maybe even 10.....
Apart from that, ... hmmmmm.... Well, I have hope for Waves' ARSE (sorry AR3E
And then there's MPE. Not that exciting to me personally, but Linnstrument, ROLI etc sure have their crowds...
Most of the rest is indeed evolutionary, as mentioned by a poster above.

Chaotic oscillators alone ae nothing new - the thing is, it's diffcult to make usable / harmonic sounds out of these.oscillator based on pendulum physics
I see not many people here appreciate the latest reaches of AI. You're oudated, old pals

Well, I'd agree with you, if it weren't for the overuse of the "AI" term. I am not sure what software in particular you are referring to, but of course, Izotope's stuff and similar plugins that help mixing (say Sonible) are helpful. I'm simply not that impressed with the logic behind auto EQing for example - I can't imagine it's difficult to write such pattern-matching "AI" code.DJ Warmonger wrote: Mon Nov 09, 2020 9:28 am I see not many people here appreciate the latest reaches of AI.
