If I were an Ableton user I'd be a little disappointed that only wavetab;e and sampler became mpe compatible. No operator or their other instruments? That's a shame.

There's still few months until release, so let's hope they get it - and Analog - there. But it would make even more sense for the - refreshed! - AAS instruments, as the MPE nuances translate great to physically modelled stuff!Echoes in the Attic wrote: Tue Nov 10, 2020 1:14 pm If I were an Ableton user I'd be a little disappointed that only wavetab;e and sampler became mpe compatible. Let's lobby for that over at beta forums

Have there been any videos yet showing how the macro variations can be recalled (or set) with push? Wondering how those would be used in a live environment.

If I understand it correctly... ProTools, Cubase (proper comping came quite late to this one) , I would guess that Logic, Digital Performer, Sequoia and any other DAW that was created with multitrack recordings in mind.antic604 wrote: Tue Nov 10, 2020 9:39 amIs there any other DAW that does this? I always thought it's single track onlyMulti-track comping
Live organizes multiple passes of multi-tracked instruments and performances with multiple musicians, as well as MIDI tracks into individual takes.

And people thought that MPE was impossible for Ableton without rewriting the Core and it would never happen

Was version 10 not a rewrite? They changed nearly everything about the program making it high resolution.liquidsound wrote: Tue Nov 10, 2020 1:38 pm And people thought that MPE was impossible for Ableton without rewriting the Core and it would never happen![]()
Signatures are so early 2000s.

Strange that they needed to add an entire new midi editor though. They couldn't add it in to the existing midi editor?liquidsound wrote: Tue Nov 10, 2020 1:38 pm And people thought that MPE was impossible for Ableton without rewriting the Core and it would never happen![]()
And like I said, most built-in instruments don't have MPE support, so all those max for live instruments, the AAS ones. I'm very surprised Operator didn't get mpe treatment. It's especially nice to have a built-in granular device with mpe, but looks like Ableton doesn't have that.

Maybe they are using MIDI 2 protocol for the MPE?

Native LFO!
EDIT: I must have misunderstood, it's just been moved around in browser but is still M4L. Won't bother editing the subsequent posts which are also therefore wrong.

That was added in v10, along with Shaper (an MSEG, basically) and Envelope Follower...

Yes, but do they have MULTITRACK comping, so e.g. you have a singer, a drummer and a guitarist and they together do 5 takes into 3 mics and all are recorded to 3 tracks, each with separate 5 takes?pixel85 wrote: Tue Nov 10, 2020 1:31 pmIf I understand it correctly... I don't think I ever heard about this (not that I looked for it, though).

I jump 2 versions at a time, am still on 9, so I don't know.
That said, you better tell the guy who made the video who has flagged it as new to 11...
