Ceej wrote: Wed Nov 11, 2020 12:59 am Pianoteq 7 was released today, and they're offering 20% off Pianoteq Standard ($240 rather than $299). The new listing and price hasn't show up on other retailers yet, but I'd expect it to be around $215 on maybe JRRShop once it does. Modartt is relatively stingy with sales in general so I'm guessing this is the cheapest it'll be for some time. This sale lasts "through November".

Edit to add: the upgrade from Stage to Standard is also 20% off ($120 rather than $150).

Also, there's apparently a pretty generous grace period for a free upgrade to Pianoteq 7 - I registered Pianoteq Standard 6 back on August 12, and I have Pianoteq Standard 7 in my account now. If you don't qualify, the upgrade is apparently $39.

Guess it's my turn to ask - what about this post caused three people to give it a thumbs-down?
That got thumbed down?! Well there are all sorts of motivations and characters behind the thumbs up and down, sure, maybe anyone who thumbed that post down can elaborate?

Extra thoughts:
Post was downvoted because its only 20% off? Perhaps Pianoteq offer better discounts/by Black Friday this is an insult to some who were holding out, the thumbs down is them venting?
Post may have rambled on unnecessarily about the ins and outs of 20% - and this is the thing thats curious, I actually really like and would up vote something like this irrespective of the merit of the bargain, but thats a tough call that could easily go either way for some, they may want to down vote because its just noise, like this reply!

People be crazy. I'm thrilled with the post as I learned that I get version 7 free! Thanks.

So I just noticed Nomad Factory’s Magma is currently $30 at jrrshop. I remember really wanting it years ago and seems like a great deal, but I remember reading somewhere that it’s been abandoned since the developer passed away? Anybody have experiences with it, or any issues installing it with Catalina??

 :ud: some of us are interested, its a point of interest for a range of reasons and they actually do relate to the topic of 'bargains' of which is the discussion here.

My contention is people hold opinions that others don't, sometimes without much weight given to them. Outlaying them in a public forum is a waste of time and the match to ignite a lot of needless arguments over subjective topics. That is to say -- not everyones opinion on every topic really matters. So there isn't a lot of value to trying to understand these things imo.

I think by now it should be fairly obvious that the thumbs up/down thing on any form of social media is completely and utterly point- and meaningless. Just ignore it and move on. ;)

My recollection is that it was generally reported to be quite buggy... For $30 it might be worth the risk (I'm considering it) but I will definitely look around Gearslutz/etc to see whether this is still true.
A well-behaved signature.

Well you just said what I was trying to say a lot more succinctly.

Yes, you're right, it happens every year. There are over 400 deals launching the week of Black Friday.

We will have 25 Pianoteq products going on sale for Black Friday. However, Standard and Upgrades to Standard will not be included.

Regarding the thumbs downs, my assumption is they're about the deal itself, as in those people either don't like Pianoteq or aren't happy about the price.

I had this delusional image in my head that black friday was a one day buying fest, instead of a whole fukcing month.. Or week..

Like one local seller advertises "black friday offers every week for the whole month!". I find it somehow disgusting.

Interesting! I wouldn't have guessed there were even that many Pianoteq products in total.. I guess that means instrument packs? That'd be very cool since they almost never go on sale. But there's only 21 of them so far...
