Why we don’t get an output knob or can we use the input volume instead. I think this would change the saturation behaviour, correct?

True, but that would need lots of changes - to all devices... And since saturation is just a perk, I simply don't have time for that I'm afraid. You can always add MSaturator(MB) after it if you want full control.
