Hi.
Can somebody please shine a light on something for me please?
Picked up Mdrummer license... Downloaded and installed 70gb (!) of content -> (2008-18 + 2020 / Essentials)

I am a bit confused. I bought it mainly to assemble backing drums for genres like Bossa, Reggae, Blues and some hand Afro-Cuban percussion...

Ok I have seen a total of about 8 of each reggae, blues bossa.... rhythm sets
Most of them are very alike, and in a way boring because of some minor note shifts / adds that makes them "different".
These genres above, unlike many "even" rhythm genres of music have specific grooves, which makes them very special and recognizable. Yes, I saw various randomizing features and "builders".... However, I am not a drummer. If I was one, I would of just played what I need :) I do not want to "lego block" build only with a handful rudimental rhythms...I hoped for more advanced
rhythm patterns that are in line with genre. Something how a musician of that genre would play...

Is there a library of rhythms and grooves of the styles mentioned above that I have to install?

P.S.Drums do sound great and have amazing controls, but without style specific content, it is nearly useless to me. I hope I just missed something obvious....

Kindly respond.
Thank you.

I agree! I was also a bit surprised about this!
But since there is all the tools to do it I had in mind to take the time to make some Rythme patterns in those styles. Maybe, for those who feel like doing it, we can start to share our patterns and create a proper Rythme pattern repertoire?

Well, my assumption is that you use this tool if you are NOT a drummer, and do not know all the perks of ART of drumming.
I was just under illusion that such high priced tagged plugin would come with decent library, not a handful very similar and rudimental patterns of common styles... The styles that had been around for 100 years...

I can create rock/pop groove easily with given material, but styles mentioned in initial post are heavily relied on particular grooves, which are extremely poor represented in about 8 tracks of each style. Yes, you can twist these until you smoke, however I feel initial material is extremely simplistic.

Perhaps, I am missing something?

Well, you know, these things are used by about 0.01% of the musicians out there, and that quite answers your question. Our development time is extremely limited, so the majority is what counts. These rhythms are there, but yes, just a few and you don't like them. Perhaps try to get some MIDI files from specialists you like. We may get there eventually, but who knows when.

I would love to see some self-made patternes from you guys! :tu:

Vojtech,
Hand percussion, Blues and Bossa Nova (and close relatives of the genre)...
"you know, these things are used by about 0.01% of the musicians"
Are you sure about that?

Why do I need a Mdrummer if you are suggesting doing it all manually (midi files)? My understanding was that this is a ripe product that has most prominent genres covered.

As I understand, MDrummer allows you to import many samples types and formats, including MIDI loops, to then utilize its great construction capacity. (Search for Chandler videos on this).

Here is our favorite expert (MYtuber :-D) explaining how:

Am not sure you'll like the following examples but there are plenty of other accessible sources:
https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/ ... Percussion
https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/ ... Percussion
Plus the broad "latin" category might also help your search:
https://zero-g.co.uk/collections/latin
In your case I'd be attentive at coming Black Friday and Christmas sales, when you may find very specialized libraries for between $10 to $30, some of them very good quality.

///All in all, You most probably know most of the above. Anyway if it is not for you, it might help someone doing a related search here.

Hmm, this advice is totally missing the point too me.
If you bought a drum vsti, you’d like to use this with all the capabilities.
Vojtech doesn’t like midi as he said in other threads, but for non drummers it’s not that easy. That’s where other products have their advantage. Using midi from Toontrack and other products inside mdrummer is a nightmare. No fast workflow.
What I don’t understand, Vojtech is a great drummer, why not filling the gap of rhythms? Maybe cause he is a drummer? I know, time and we want mixing revolution, new features, bugfixes and so on all at the same time.
But would be sad having this beast with the phenomenal new drum empire pack and not using it, because of this.

Well, some of us got inspired by this other MDrummer video showing how to make variations into imported/exported MIDI. Quite accessible tools in it, you may want to try a similar approach:
(Chandler gets hands on, quite early)
