It's absolute insanity ATM. Seems like the people are consuming about 10 times as much as in non-Corona times. Many hardware which is being newly released isn't available for months on now too.4damind wrote: Thu Nov 12, 2020 10:11 am Btw. Steinberg (Ed Doll) has confirmed that the release was a disaster, especially because of the overloaded license servers. Steinberg hadn't imagined it that way either. Apparently the requests to the servers were higher than expected (from the experience in the past).
Cubase 11 available now

Is Cubase 11 a lot cheaper than before for updating an older version?
All updates from >10 are just 159€? I remember it was something like 280+€ for older versions?

Finally got activated after repeated attempts. Hmn, also the Steinberg Download Manager seems to be better but also worse at the same time.
I like that you no longer need to download the entire archive (and can download the program and content packs seperately). But due to the background silent install, it installed to VSTContent on my C: drive, rather than my SSD data drive, so I had to use Steinberg Library Manager and manually move them all over.

Sounds primitive. Is there a way to download, where you can define the download path? Is that way obvious?fandango wrote: Thu Nov 12, 2020 10:45 am ...But due to the background silent install, it installed to VSTContent on my C: drive, rather than my SSD data drive, so I had to use Steinberg Library Manager and manually move them all over.

It's wierd, it worked for some packs, but not for others. Some of them it correctly put in D:\Steinberg\VSTContent, but others it installed to what I assume are default C:\ProgramData locations, despite my default path in the Download Manager. I'll install some more packs and report it at the Issues forum.

But it looks like (maybe from statistics) that a lot or users keep using older versions & dont upgrade as often as steinberg would like them to - even when they do 50% sales

The location for the content always has been a problem for me. I never managed to install stuff to the designated locations too. Some content was installed there, other content wasn't.fandango wrote: Thu Nov 12, 2020 10:56 am It's wierd, it worked for some packs, but not for others. That surely is dissapointing. It was one of just a few reasons I considered upgrading to 11. I'm in the same boat with you now.loachm wrote: Wed Nov 11, 2020 7:03 pm...thanks for the info!zvenx wrote: Wed Nov 11, 2020 5:52 pmhttps://www.steinberg.net/forums/viewto ... 7&t=201950loachm wrote: Wed Nov 11, 2020 5:48 pm ...that new midi remote system & api, that has been in that leaked beta manual on youtube, really excited me, but I can't find it among the new features. Does anybody know, if it has been pulled from the release version?
rspNot sure, if I update/upgrade now...

Nice catch. I downloaded the upgrade expecting it to .. upgrade ... in place of my old C10 installation.fandango wrote: Thu Nov 12, 2020 10:45 am Finally got activated after repeated attempts. Hmn, also the Steinberg Download Manager seems to be better but also worse at the same time.

But, no, due to your post I checked and discovered it installed C11 on my 'C' drive instead of a separate partition for apps. Now I know to check though so thanks!

In the Download assistant, if you click the settings it will let you define a default path. Mine is set to an external drive, and it did install the extras there. The actual app installed on the main drive in the apps folder. So yes, you can define it and it does seem to know you want the app to go one place and the sounds to go in another.Harry_HH wrote: Thu Nov 12, 2020 10:50 amSounds primitive.
