That's an output section that applies a gain (thru) or clipping (with pre-clipping gain) or limiting (with pre-limiter gain) or a Maximizer (with amount); and a post dynamics trim so you can clip, limit or maximize a signal and then lower the volume.
OK i love your delays, i'll have to try your demo of this.
For the time being, the demo is just online. it works best in Chrome on a desktop.

Online demo... yeah, cool and stuff. But how will I know how CPU intensive this thing is or how well it runs on my machine, without a proper demo that I can use in my DAW?

thank you! :tu:

Thanks for the feedback - we hear you! - we were just so excited to introduce it to the world with the web demo, but you're right it makes sense that you want to check those things. The full demo will follow shortly on our site - in the meantime please check your PMs.

CPU-wise Crack is pretty efficient, Impact uses more but varies a little depending on which aspects are engaged (they turn on/off seamlessly when needed) but as a rough indication it's probably around 3 Cracks worth of CPU most of the time in 3 band mode. In 1 band mode with EQ off it's just a little higher than the Crack usage, but not by much.

re: loyalty discounts etc. in the FAQ at their site. seems pretty clear/reasonable.
Sadly we are not in a position to do official ‘crossgrades’ for users of the MaxForLive devices which are related to (but in no way exactly the same as) the eponymous VST / AU releases.
The M4L projects were with a different company (Ableton) and we have none of their details or data about customers or orders.
We gave away Diffuse VST/AU for free at the beginning of it’s release period – this was our way of giving a discount to all our loyal M4L users. We have also made the Crack VST/AU permanently free for similar reasons.
Modnetic had two years of additional development, so giving away Diffuse for free was a consolation.
Similarly, Impact had a further 18 months of additional development work, and thus a similar relationship to the free Crack.
You can try a demo of Modnetic to test out all the new features if you wish. The new modulation section alone could be considered an entirely new plugin. Any CPU ‘fixes’ are also to do with this long research period, but also to do with what is possible writing native C++ code rather than working in Max/Gen.
Similarly, with Impact there is a demo to download, and even an online WAM (Web Audio Module) to try out directly in your browser!
We hope these are a good compromises for everyone.

+1

Webassembly is an interesting technology, but in that case it doesnt work for me. I want to test a plugin on my own material, against plugins that i already own. BTW: I'm a big fan of Modnetic and Diffuse and exited to test Impacts offline demo :tu:

since the devs are here, another question:

what about apple Big Sur and - maybe more impotantly - M1 support ?

just curious...

Big Sur is currently unsupported - we haven't investigated yet in any detail. As for M1 there will be some work to fully test and build for it but we've been looking at portability behind the scenes for a while. I'm fairly confident that we are unlikely to have major issues in our codebase and some of the required work is already in place - of course until we're fully up and running on one of the new machines we can't be certain what we'll find, but I think we are relatively well-placed on that front

For the time being i'm using a low spec computer, but the online demo is glitchy for me, so for the time being i'll have to say "no" to Impact (i'm not unhappy with my singleband transient shaper anyway really). Good luck.

Awesome to see Surreal Machines come out with something new! Great company with great products. I liked the sounds from the web demo.

But if I download and install Crack, does that make me a Crack user??
A well-behaved signature.

There's a proper demo version for Impact now. :)

Unfortunately it didn't work for me on Win 7 (neither did Crack), dev says it works fine on his side. :?

Had the honor of Beta-testing these & Can only highly recommend them. Impact goes pretty deep and needs some time to really figure out. Crack is more simple, yet can also be pretty effective. Good Work as usual, Surreal Machines.

That’s not to say we don’t take this seriously. We are looking at it currently.

Currently windows 7 isn’t officially supported but it did work in our brief tests so in the case of Win 7, we recommend downloading the demo to find out if it works right now for you.
