Yuk. 10.5 is fine for me anyway. Apple really drags you along by hook and crook.

god dammit catalina. oh well.

In the same week of Cubase 11 and Live 11 you show up with a new update that has no new features.

Logic updates are free since 7 years. So is 10.6. I don't want to complain.

I love their relaxed release cycle. Wished other DAW developers would do the same. Guess it wouldn't work, as they're not Apple. Money's gotta roll in.

i don't want to complain either but making everyone go to catalina seems like an arbitrary condition.

probably just wait for big sur and skip catalina on my laptop anyways.. my desktop is 2010 mac pro and is stuck on mojave anyways.. unless i want to jump through hoops and force the install using http://dosdude1.com/catalina/

I hear you. I'm working with a Mac mini 2012. Officially supported by Catalina. But no Big Sur for me.

On the other hand I can imagine porting a DAW to a new platform is heavyweight lifting.

Logic developers don't have endless resources to maintain backwards compatibility.

yeah.. i get it. just seems that it's arbitrary for a .x update that is full of fixes. previous update was mojave friendly and wasn't very long ago. I was expecting a break w/Mojave whenever Logic 11 comes around. that's what i get for expecting things ;)

my laptop is 2018 macbook pro and will support catalina and i'm assuming big sur but i've read so much bad news about catalina.. not to mention it might break a few plug ins that haven't been updated for catalina.

i guess i need to do a survey of apps/plug ins and figure out what will break if i go to shitalina

Good idea. I'm going to do that too. Guess I don't have many 32Bit plugins. But 32Bit apps I still love. Eventually I will run a Mojave system for them on a separate HDD. Just in case.

I'm on Catalina but I don't see the update.

Be aware that Catalina doesn't just break 32Bit apps, but also plugins that the developer hasn't certified. There's a workaround, via Terminal (and sometimes security permissions), to get them working, but a real hassle for every plugin that isn't Catalina ready. Found this out the hard way when i finally updated and a lot of my 64Bit plugs weren't working.

No update here? Weird
